How to Install HP 952XL Ink Cartridges
- Turn on your HP OfficeJet Pro printer and open the ink cartridge access door — the carriage will move to the center
- Press down on the old cartridge to release it and slide it out
- Remove the new 952XL cartridge from its packaging and remove the orange protective tape from the nozzle area completely
- Insert each cartridge into the correct color slot — push firmly until it clicks into place
- Repeat for all four cartridges
- Close the access door — the printer will automatically calibrate
If your printer shows a cartridge error: Ensure the protective tape is fully removed, clean the copper contacts with a dry lint-free cloth, and reinstall. If your printer is enrolled in HP+, see the compatibility notice above.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this pack include all four colors? Yes. One each of HP 952XL black (F6U19AN, ~2,000 pages), cyan (L0S61AN), magenta (L0S64AN), and yellow (L0S67AN) — each color ~1,600 pages at 5% coverage.
What is the difference between HP 952 and HP 952XL? Both fit the same printers. HP 952 is standard yield (1,000 BK / 700 color pages); HP 952XL is high yield (2,000 BK / 1,600 color pages). The 952XL delivers a much lower cost per page.
Are HP 952 and HP 951 or HP 950 interchangeable? No. HP 952, 951, and 950 are designed for different printer series and are completely incompatible with each other. Always use the cartridge number specified for your printer model.
Will these work with my HP OfficeJet Pro e-series printer? Only if your e-series printer is not enrolled in HP+ service. If you activated HP+, it locks the printer to OEM cartridges only. Standard (non-HP+) printers work perfectly with these cartridges.
Will using compatible cartridges void my HP printer warranty? No. Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, HP cannot void your printer warranty solely because you used a compatible ink cartridge.
How should I store unused cartridges? Store sealed cartridges upright in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. For best results, install within 18–24 months of purchase.
