Bernadine Kemarre is a rising star in contemporary Aboriginal art. She was born in 1974 in the Ltyentye Apurte Community (Santa Teresa), approximately 80km east of Alice Springs, Northern Territory, and had a traditional upbringing before attending school in Alice Springs.

Bernadine comes from a family of famous artists, including Abie Loy and Josie Petrick Kemarre, who have emerged from the Utopia area in the NT. Her sister-in-law is Anna Price Petyarre, one of Central Desert's most sought-after artists. From a young age, she learned to paint her dreams, ceremonies, and essential bush foods onto canvas.

Bernadine lives with her husband, Steven, and their children in Napperby Station, NT. Her artworks are intricate and colourful, and she is an artist sure to succeed.

Artwork Story

The medicine bush leaves depicted were originally of the Kurrajong tree, of
which some 30 varieties date back 50 million years. They scale from
small shrubs to massive trees some 30 metres in height. The larger trees' trunks are used to store water, but the leaves have medicinal
purposes.

The women of Utopia, the remote region far to the west of Alice Springs, where
Jeannie’s people gather the bush leaves, boil them and then mash
them with animal fats (kangaroo, emu or goanna) making a medicinal poultice
or paste that can last for many months. The paste is used to heal many afflictions, such as bites, wounds, skin infections, rashes and skin cancer. The
bush leaves are boiled in hot water to make an infusion or healing tea.
Other preparations were used as insect repellent or were thrown into the
water to stun the fish.

The desirability of the artwork

Admirers of the medicine bush leaf paintings often observe their mesmerizing
attraction. People are captivated by how the paintings appear in motion in
front of their eyes, like the leaves on the canvas are blowing in the
wind. Many buyers and collectors of medicine bush leaf artworks both in
Australia, America and Europe are medical specialists who buy the works
to hang in their consulting rooms to show Aboriginal artwork with medical
connotations.

Fun but not for rough play.
Color: Orange
The ball contented our “golden” Jaxson for about 15 minutes. He then thought it was a regular ball and it’s just a little delicate for a big dog. I just wrote it off as a loss. Great idea but should be more durable.

Good quality trash bags with reliable strength and pleasant scent
Size: 140 Count (Pack of 1), Size: 140 Count (Pack of 1)
I’ve been using these Glad ForceFlex Tall Kitchen Trash Bags (13 Gallon, Gain Lavender scent) for my regular household trash, and overall they’ve performed very well. The material feels strong and flexible, which helps prevent tearing when the bag gets full or when disposing of heavier items. One thing I appreciate is the ForceFlex design, which allows the bag to stretch instead of ripping when handling bulky waste. The drawstring closure is also sturdy and makes it easy to tie and carry the bag without worrying about leaks or spills. The Gain Lavender scent is noticeable but not overpowering. It helps reduce everyday trash odors, especially in the kitchen, which is a nice bonus for a busy household. In terms of capacity, the 13 gallon size fits standard kitchen trash cans perfectly, and the box lasts a good amount of time, making it practical for routine use. What I liked most: The strength and flexibility of the bags stand out. They hold up well even with heavier trash, and the scent adds a fresh touch without being overwhelming. What could be improved: While the scent is pleasant, those who prefer unscented bags may want another option. Also, depending on usage, the price may feel slightly higher than basic trash bags, but the durability helps justify it. Overall: These are dependable kitchen trash bags that combine durability, flexibility, and odor control. I would consider purchasing them again for everyday household use.

Surprisingly great—no more kitchen odors!
Size: 140 Count (Pack of 1)
I honestly didn't think I’d be this impressed by trash bags, but these have been a total game-changer for my kitchen. The Gain Lavender scent is subtle but does a great job of masking that typical "trash smell," and the bags themselves are super strong. The ForceFlex material actually lives up to the name—they stretch without ripping, so I don't have to worry about them breaking on the way to the bin. It sounds silly, but it’s made such a difference in keeping the kitchen cleaner and stress-free. Definitely worth the buy!
