History:

The F4U-1A is the first mass-produced improved version of the Vought F4U "Pirate" family in the United States to truly possess complete aircraft carrier takeoff and landing capabilities. It was the core carrier based fighter of the US Navy/Marine Corps on the Pacific battlefield during World War II.

Service and achievements:

Mass production began in 1943 and the ship was fully launched in 1944, under the command of a Navy aircraft carrier and a Marine Corps carrier based aircraft squadron.
Solomon Islands, Guadalcanal, Mariana Islands, Philippines, Okinawa, etc., to counter Zero fighter.

Ace representatives: VMF-214 Black Sheep Squadron (Gregory Boyington), VMF-17 Pirate Flag Squadron (Ike Kepford, 16 crashed).

Record: According to US military statistics, the shooting down ratio is 11:1, making it one of the best carrier based fighter jets in the Pacific theater.
