Hatsukokoro Kurogane Blue 2 Kurouchi K-tip Gyuto 210mm Black ChacateThe Hatsukokoro Kurogane(, Black Iron) can be considered as the Blue 2 version of the popular Kokugei line. The Hatsukokoro Kurogane(黒鉄, Black Iron) can be considered as the Blue 2 version of the popular Kokugei line. Main difference is the core steel is Blue 2 instead of Blue 1, and the slightly blue tint is not present on the Kotetsu, it is just as the name implies, a Kurouchi finished, iron cladding knife. For the experienced eyes, it won't be hard to tell that this knife is made in the Tosa region. The wild hammer marks can be clearly seen under the rustic black oxidation layer. Although the finish is on the rough side, its performance is still quite decent. The bevel is a slight convex grind, but left with some thickness behind the edge, it won't fly through food like many other knives but once the cut initiates, the very positive food release will help the cut to be smooth. The additional thickness also means the edge is on the stronger side, it can be pushed a bit harder, which kind of fits it purpose as a budget, rough use knife. For the seasoned expert, the iron cladding means the bevel geometry can be modified with relative ease, and the thicker blade can be turned into a thinner one. I shall consider the Kurogane as a interesting brother to the Kokugei line, with their very friendly price and decent maintainability due to the Kurouchi finish, they are both a strong contender for those who are picking their first carbon steel knife. It's a knife that you can really live and explore with, which can be a valuable thing before steeping up to a more demanding and expensive knife.

The best toy my dog has
Color: Monster Bone, Size: XX-Large
Our lab mix is a very ambitious chewer - forget retrieving... he seems to think his "job" in life is to destroy things with his teeth. He's very methodical about it; he'll chew and chew and chew, targeting the object's weakest points, until all that remains is a littering of coin-sized remnants. He even started to make progress on his heavy duty black Kong within about a week. By the time he was about 8 months old, we figured out that the only toys he can be left alone with are the ones made by Nylabone. He has all their models: dinosaurs, rings, small bones, and branches. These Nylabone toys are a hard plastic that chips off in tiny little shards. He's happy because he feels like he's making progress (even though it takes him a long time to do so) and we're happy because the toys last a relatively long time and he can't swallow anything that might hurt him. He does leave tiny plastic shavings on the carpet, but we have to vacuum a lot anyways because of his fur, so it's not a big deal. Of all his Nylabone toys, this is the best (and probably his favorite of the bunch). He really likes the size - just right for him to prance around with and show off. Although he's had it for four months, it's still smooth enough in the middle that we can hold it for him comfortably, and it's retained its original shape (unlike dinosaur and branch). If we could just train him not to drop this on our feet when he wants attention(it weighs a few pounds and has gotten a bit pokey on the ends)this would be the perfect toy.

Cute squeaky toy, good price.
Size: Pack of 3, Color: Mini Loofa
These little squeaky toys are one of my yorkie pups favorite. Being latex they are last longer than the material ones. Good price for the 3 pack.

His favorite toy!
Size: Pack of 3, Color: Mini Loofa
My 50 lb lab mut LOVES them! These latex squeaky toys are filled with a soft "loofah" like material which gives them some buffer from doggie teeth puncturing the latex but light and soft enough to safely play fetch in the house. I would not recommend these for heavy chewers but perfect for light nibblers or those pups that just like make their toys squeak or carry around toys as a "pacifier". The 3 pack is a GREAT DEAL!
