Once more, this is a set of chic retro-chansons given a hypnagogic sheen by Will Gregory’s synths and Alison Goldfrapp’s sultry, quietly commanding performance up front, though the 80s flavour - Yazoo etc - is stronger here than on previous albums. 'Head First' is T-Rex as reimagined by Nouvelle Vague, but also better than that would be.
