Out of our favorite Californian workshop, we've got this Fender Custom Shop '63 Esquire Custom in a tasty Chocolate 2-Color Sunburst. Death by chocolate? Just about. This Fender Custom Shop Esquire assembles with plenty of quality Custom Shop appointments to create an incredibly unique image of an Esquire including quality woods, electronics, and hardware specifications. However you like your Fenders – distinctly vintage or otherwise – this Fender Custom Shop is definitely worth checking out.

This Fender Custom Shop '63 Esquire Custom kicks everything off with a two-piece guitar and bass ash body. When you're dealing with ash, you're dealing with something of a sibling to the standby alder, so you've got plenty of resonance to play with. This two-piece ash is additionally sorted by weight, where, during construction, a Fender Custom Shop builder will select a body among a lot for, specifically, its light weight. As a body, this ash pick works wonderfully also to splash a Fender Custom Shop Deluxe Closet Classic aged lacquer finish treatment. Fender Custom's Deluxe Closet Classic finish treatment tier seeks to replicate the finish wear of a Fender kept safe and really touched only by the hands of time. Gentle checking and wear appears across the body for that added bit of aesthetic nuance. Additionally, parchment binding wraps this body's top and back.

Moving on, this Fender Custom Shop brings in a riftsawn maple neck taking a 60 Style Oval "C" profile. This 60 Style Oval "C", primarily a very popular profile among Fender Custom Shop necks, comes together with custom dimensions. As it moves from the first fret to the twelfth, this neck measures from .810" to .890". This neck is joined by a round lam nine millimeter AAA rosewood fingerboard. Lined with twenty-one frets using 6150 Medium Jumbo wire, this fingerboard feels rich and lush while its frets balance spaciousness and articulation. Vintage clay facedots appear across its compound radius that measures from 7.25" to 9.5" starting at the nut and moving toward the body.

This Custom Shop Esquire fires up with a quality sonic engine. Hearkening to the simplicity of single-pickup Fenders of generations past, this Fender Custom Shop loads in a lone hand-wound Loaded '51 Nocaster single-coil pickup. The Nocaster pickup, a distinctly vintage-minded pickup with plenty of heat and kick, drives this whole Esquire forward with the Custom Shop's '59 Esquire wiring setup. Supplementing the energetic voice produced by its Nocaster single-coil, this Esquire features a solid hardware setup with a bone nut and Vintage-Style Fender tuning machines. Of course, we simply can't leave one of the biggest attractions of this guitar unaddressed: its Bigsby B5 vibrato tailpiece and RSD Jazzmaster bridge. This dynamic combo of specs enable expressive vibrato bends and sturdy intonation when playing. The Custom Shop's Closet Classic hardware finish treatment appears across this whole model as it travels with an included Fender Custom Shop Strat/Tele Tweed hardshell case.

Life's sweet – so sweet, really – with this distinctly retro-minded Fender and its charming single-pickup persona.

Good to have if you've never seen the iTEP exam, but don't rely on it to boost your scores
Format: Paperback
This book is good in that it comes with two practice tests: one in the beginning of the book, one in the end of the book. The grading rubric is helpful too. However, the actual guide part of the book, doesn't help too much with how to improve test scores. What I like least about this guide is that it won't tell you which questions you answered incorrectly on the practice exams. A good test prep guide will tell you what you answered incorrectly, and will tell you what logic to follow to get to the correct answer. In the reading passages, it would be nice to know where I can find evidence to justify the "correct" answer. In the grammar section, it would be nice to know which rule I'm violating. Any test guide should always come with some testing strategies. I.E. If this question is taking up too much time, skip it and go to the next one. This guide lacks simple strategies like that. Simple strategies like that could be useful when incorporated into this guide because there are certain sections on the exam that you can go back to previous questions, but some sections where the "back" button is disabled. Overall, if you've never seen an iTEP exam before, this book is certainly helpful in that it will give you an idea of what you will be testing for. However, this book alone won't help you achieve a score of 6. The table of contents itself will tell you there are only 86 pages of actual content covering test material. That's not enough to cover how to excel in the exam.

Don't buy it
Format: Paperback
It does not prepare for the real test. Using it is absolutely not enough to be approved with good grades. Too expensive for what it offers.
