Description:
A House by the River journeys through the six years Diane Fahey lived with her mother, Patricia, as her carer, and ends at a point five years after her death. Both the challenges and radiant moments of the relationship of mother and daughter are given enduring form in poems that hold the tension between hope and truth, charting a gradual relief - then loss, and its aftermath. The same life-tide that swept usapart has brought us to this grateful, elegaic love, the hub we turn on - Demeter and Kore becomingeach other, held in a graced affinitybetween loss and loss. Twilight summer.- 'Breath' A House by the River is also, in part, a record of the poet's creative life, sustained by the worlds of art and nature. Along with the garden surrounding her mother's house, Fahey celebrates the wider natural environment of Barwon Hears, opening out - as in Sea Wall and River Light - large perspectives of river, sea and sky, with the presence of birds an unfailing inspiration. But the central power of the book lies in its engagement with the mysteries of healing and spiritual resilience, as Fahey witnesses to the courage and grace of her mother's last years, so leaving a memorable portrait of her. What would I need to know, to wear sunlightas richly, sparsely, as you do now:your face tilted to receive the wind's balm;that look of earthed serenity; bodypoised as a cormorant's, wings outstretched.- 'Garden Portrait' Diane Fahey is one of Australia's foremost poets. She has been the recipient of various poetry prizes and literary grants, as well as of writer's residences in Italy, Ireland, Scotland and Australia. Diane lives in Clifton Springs, a baysi

Stands up to my aggressive chewer.
The squeaker stopped working almost immediately, but my dog didn't care too much. He still keeps chewing on these balls, and so far, they have stood up to his tough jaws.

Dogs love the bounce and squeak
My dog loves these and he isn’t a fetching breed. He loves chewing on them while they squeak. He’s a Great Pyrenees and the chewing is good for keeping him occupied when I’m not home. The neighbor dog, sneaks through the communicating gate and will steal one for herself. She’s a cattle dog/ husky cross. The other neighbor has a lab and he absolutely LOVES how these ball love to fly through the air and bounce so well when they hit the ground. Get them

No, squeaky
The rubber balls are super stiff, which is good or bad depending on your dog. The squeaker is awful and terribly designed, however, It squeaks the first time you or your dog squeezes it, then it falls off inside and it becomes a rattler instead of squeaker. I thought it was a one off thing, but nope, all of the balls had the squeaker fall off inside rattling by the 2nd attempt to make it squeak.

BEST EVER!!!
We have a medium sized furbaby. He is the most gentle baby! Except with toys. He destroys everything he gets within 5 minutes. Even the aggressive chewer toys. He’s had these for a solid 24 hours. STILL INTACT!!! He’s loving them! Well, maybe he’s actually frustrated with them! Lol. He was able to stop it from squeaking… but he’s still having a ball playing with them. Not a single rip. I think we may need to put them up for a while to give his jaws and mind a break. BUY THEM NOW!!! Your baby will love them. And if they usually tear things up…. They will be able to enjoy this for a long time!!!
