This beautiful Martin Custom Shop 28-style features an OM Auditorium Body that strikes the perfect balance between size and projection. The OM series, originally introduced in the 1920s, was designed to offer a versatile instrument suitable for both fingerstyle and flatpicking techniques, and this guitar exemplifies why OM Martin's are so beloved, offering scalloped x-bracing under its hood to help its natural projection.
This model, being a 28-style, features a body made with an Adi spruce top, and East Indian rosewood back and sides: two woods with a stark contrast in color that work surprisingly well together, visually, and that are loved by Martin fans as a common pairing as tonewoods. Purfling runs the length of the back of the guitar, separating its two bookmatched halves.
The neck, carved from select hardwood, features Modified Low Oval Profile with Martin's notoriously comfortable High-Performance taper. The fingerboard, which meets joins the body at its 14th fret, sports a fingerboard made of ebony with a 16-inch radius, topped with 20 total frets and Long Diamond and Square inlays made of abalone.
Finished in a stunning natural gloss, the decision to add aging toner to the top imparts a subtle patina to the wood, allowing the grains of both Adi spruce and East Indian rosewood to shine fully with no interruption.
In the hardware department, this beauty features a bridge made of ebony and Grover nickel tuning machines, and comes with an included hard shell case.
