Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the building, Indie Boards & Cards and designer Lutz Pietschker bring you the expansion to the blazingly brilliant co-operative game - Flash Point: Fire & Rescue - 2nd Story. Following on from the base game, 2nd Story has players again operating as firefighters tackling an ever ferocious fire as it eats away at a building in a bid to rescue the helpless people trapped inside. The expansion does what the best expansions do - it adds to what was already great. It offers two double-sided boards, ladder, window and action tokens and an explosion marker. The action tokens and explosion marker act as aids to make it easier to remember where an explosion started and the action markers help to keep a check on how many of your free turns have been used on a go. The ladder tokens are used to scale the building from the outside for quicker access to the 2nd story, while the window tokens act much like the doors, as players can climb in through them after climbing the ladder. The board remains a 6x8 grid, but it is split over two floors (each a 4x6 grid). They are two separate double sided boards which means you can even elevate the 2nd story above the ground floor for better immersion. Within the building, players will be able to use stairwells in order to travel between floors, but watch out, these can become engulfed by the flames just as any other square can. With space more limited on each floor and internal walls packed in tight, explosions become all the more deadly and provide players with a real challenge to meet the win goal of getting seven helpless people out of the building in one piece.
