Author: Colin Spencer Publisher: Grub Street

This important book is a ground breaking work on the subject of British food. It has been thought that civilisation in Britain, which stems from farming, food and cookery all began with the Romans. But it has now been discovered that thriving communities possessing a long history with their own ritual, laws, culture and food, inhabited Britain long before that time. Food is the fundamental spur to action, innovation, exploration and creativity in humankind. This book explores the roots of our national existence through the cultivation of its land, the production and cooking of its food, revealing the moulding force of climate and the constant invention in technology that produced the food through the centuries. It will end in the present but will also consider the ominous, immediate future with the combined threat of global warming and Peak Oil. It is a breath-taking attempt to trace the changes to and influences on food in Britain from the earliest dawning of time when England became an island, through the Roman occupation, the Plague years, the Industrial Revolution, the rise of Capitalism to the present day. There has been a recent wave of interest in food culture and history and Colin Spencer's masterful, readable account of our culinary history is a celebrated contribution to the genre. There has never been such an exciting, broad-scoped history of the food of these islands. It should remind us all of our rich past and the gastronomic importance of British cuisine.

Not my cup of tea.
Size: X-Large, Color: Black
The sweater seemed to be well made and fit me well. The color and style were nice and it's a comfortable material, but it's just not my style. The weave is so very open, it feels like I'm wearing an afghan from the back of the sofa. That kind of defeats the purpose of a sweater for me.

Men's relaxed fit cardigan
Size: XX-Large, Color: Dark Blue Stripe Knit, Size: XX-Large, Color: Dark Blue Stripe Knit
This Amazon Essentialsl men's relaxed fit cardigan is a stylish option for men. The cardigan is short sleeved and relaxed in fit. I ordered an XXL for my huband, which is his normal size, and it fits him well and is relaxed through the shoulders and body of the cardigan. The one we chose is blue and white striped with a white border on the sleeves and hem and a white collar. It's 100% cotton and is soft to the touch. It looks really nice on my husband, and he says it feels comfortable to wear. The weight is somewhat heavy, so I think for him, he will mostly wear it when it's a bit cooler. It gets very hot here in summer, but this will be nice when the weather cools off. He often wears short sleeves in colder months, too. This cardigan can be machine washed in cold, but it should be dried flat (the way you generally dry sweaters so they'll keep their shape). It's a very nice looking cardigan, and it looks great on my husband. I'm very pleased with the style and the quality.

Unbeatable Price! Great Quality!
Size: Medium, Color: Dark Green Stripe Knit, Size: Medium, Color: Dark Green Stripe Knit
I was very impressed with the softness and quality of this shirt. I am 6'1 and 195 lbs. and the medium shirt was a perfect fit. I will agree that the size is true to fit. The only thing I didn't like was the length. The length is short, so it comes to just to the top of my waist when wearing, however, that is the style of this cardigan. A longer length is my personal preference since I am taller. Also, with this being cotton, I would not recommend putting this garment in the dryer as it will likely shrink. The color (I got green) is just as pictured and the green and navy color mix blend well together. Although knitted, you do not see through the shirt, so an undershirt is not required. The price tag is unbeatable as you will not find a knitted cardigan anywhere else at this low price. Overall, I think it is a great buy, and I would highly recommend it.

Great fit.
Fit Type: Regular Fit, Color: Charcoal Heather/Charcoal Heather, Size: 5X-Large Big
Im 6'4 360lbs. They're not thick but and the neck is a little looser than what im use to. But overall im happy with the quality and the length of the shirt. I got a big belly and the shirt doesn't expose any of my belly and not too long where. It looks like a tall tee. Definitely will grab these again.
