This is a half log blank with full bark on the back side, ready to be turned as either a conventional or natural edge bowl. The bark is mostly complete on the back but is slightly loose at the edges; you would need to secure it with CA glue if intending to keep it on a live edge bowl. This bowl blank

This bowl blank contains a nice crotch with attractive grain patterns associated with the branching. It does include some pith. There are some pith-associated cracks that you'll need to either avoid or stabilize. Please scroll through the photos beyond the first 3, to see all the pictures. I've taken close-ups of the several cracks so that you can look at them in detail. There are also a couple of bug borer holes that intersect the annotated face, as well as some scattered micro-bore holes. |
