Pets suffering from bites may exhibit a fever, loss of appetite, swelling of joints, weakness, shivering and unusual panting. These tiny bugs cause horrible itching resulting in scabs. Ticks can also cause Lyme disease which is dangerous for humans and pets alike. Various bacterial diseases can be carried by ticks; these diseases are dangerous and can spread from pet to pet, resulting in horrible outbreaks in shelters.
Rescues are often without the necessary funds to buy flea and tick preventive care which tends to run on the pricy side.

Lucky Dog Animal's Rescue took in this handsome boy, that was picked up as a stray by animal control. Covered in sores, missing most of his hair and on top of all that Heartworm positive. The rescue immediately started him on Nexgard Plus. He is finishing up his heartworm treatment and his hair is filling in a bit more each day!
