The Craft: Hand-Threaded Beaded Flower

This hairpin is assembled by hand from individually threaded beads. The rose is carved from natural Hetian jade, with subtle color and size variation between petals. The branches are deliberately arranged in a disorderly, naturalistic pattern, and the beads tremble with movement. The silver wire may deform during shipping but can be gently adjusted back into shape.

Adhesive marks are visible on close inspection — this is an inherent part of the hand-assembly process. The jade roses may show through-hole traces, black dots, waterline marks, or cotton inclusions, all characteristic of natural Hetian jade. Pearls are natural freshwater beads with pitted surfaces and threaded leather.

S925 silver is 92.5% pure silver, alloyed with copper for durability. It is softer than steel and may flex under pressure, but this also allows easy adjustment of the wire branches. Hetian jade has been prized in China for millennia for its creamy luster and subtle color range — from white to pale green. Natural freshwater pearls grow without a nucleus, resulting in irregular shapes and surface texture.

Each piece is unique: jade color and pearl shape vary, and small scratches or plating marks on the silver are unavoidable in handmade production. These are not defects but signs of genuine craftsmanship.
