The circumstances surrounding the composition of Rachmaninoff s Concerto No. 2 are by now so well known that they barely need restatement here. The failure of his Symphony No. I at its premiere in 1897— owing largely to the ineptitude of the conductor, not to any flaws in the work itself—sent Rachmaninoff into serious creative despair. Finally he sought therapy from a Dr. Nikolai Dahl, who practiced a primitive form of autosuggestion on the composer.

It is likely that Dr. Dahl, as an amateur violinist and a man of considerable human sympathies, personally influenced Rachmaninoff as much as did his medical treatment. It was not  long before Rachmaninoff embarked on his Second Concerto, completing the second and third movements in the autumn of 1900. A year later the entire work was premiered with outstanding success, and its publication bore a dedication to Dr. Dahl.

After his exile from Russia following the Bolshevik Revolution, Rachmaninoff launched a new career as a concert pianist, maintaining homes in the United States and in Switzerland. His output as a composer diminished in quantity but not quality, and in the summer of 1934 he  quickly wrote a set of 24 variations for piano and orchestra based on the last of Niccolò Paganini's solo violin caprices.

He chose to label the  piece "Rhapsody" rather than merely "Variations"; a clever inversion of the Paganini theme, transposed to D-flat Major, forms the famous 18th Variation, whose impact calls to mind the sweeping melodic writing of   many of his earlier works. Rachmaninoff himself gave the premiere in Baltimore on November 7, 1934.

Nice wallet but the Carhartt logo is almost off of it. Rubs right off.

Dependable. Quality.
Color: Black/White/Silver-Tone, Color: Black/White/Silver-Tone
I love Timex. Been wearing them for tears. Easy to read. Indiglo? Absolutely. When I need to see the time in the dark, Indiglo is perfect. My grandchildren (and next door child) love to press the button to make it turn off / on. The ‘pearl’ face ones are difficult to see sometimes. Give me a good old matte white and I am happy. This watch band can be slide out and I have hand washed it to keep from smelling like leather bands can after a while. This band seems to pill a little but that is not enough to deter me from wearing. Love Timex. Always have. Dependable. Quality.

Great value
Color: Black/White/Silver-Tone
This has to be the best watch on the market for the money. It's low profile, easy to read, super classic and just looks great with everything. I have small wrists so this is the perfect size, not too intrusive, plus I can easily change out the band to switch up colors. I get so many compliments.

Good watch for daily regular wear
Color: Black/White/Silver-Tone, Color: Black/White/Silver-Tone
The item was delivered 2 days earlier than the estimated time. The watch was not well secured. It had fell out inside the small box, but fortunately there was no external or internal damage to the watch. The watch looks nice. I like the simple and clean design of it. The second hand ticking sound is noticeable if your surrounding is very quiet, but it doesn’t bother me cause I have had analog watches before and I the ticking sound is on a similar decibel level. Just be aware this watch is not made in the US (see pictures), but it’s not a dealbreaker for me. The strap gets the job done. I have a small wrist and the strap size is perfect. However, be aware the quality of the strap is very standard. There was noticeable frizz at the end of the strap and around the holes. Had to use a lighter to carefully trim the frizz (hence minus 1 star). Timex claimed the battery life is 3 years, but that remain to be seen. Overall, this is a good watch for every day regular wear. For more former wear you can just change the watch band.
