Natural volcanic stone like you've never seen.

From fire comes finery. Mexican Cantera translates to “quarry”, a stone that has been treasured throughout history. From ancient Aztec structures to the cathedrals of San Miguel de Allende and Mexico City landmarks, this rock can be found in the buildings that matter most throughout the country. Zia's Cantera stone tile features an endless array of earth-toned aggregates in seven covetable shades.

With seven earthy color tones ranging from grey to brown to pink to black, there is a Cantera color for anyone and any project. While consistent in overall tone and shape, each stone tile displays a one-of-a-kind presentation of aggregate, with depth and detail in each individual mark formed over time from nature's strongest forces.

Proper installation and protection of Cantera stone is key, so please ensure you work with an installer who has experience specifically installing and sealing stone tile, and who has carefully reviewed Zia's installation guide so they may best follow each step in the process.

How It's Made
We have the earth to thank for the abounding beauty of our Cantera stone tile collection. Formed over millions of years from volcanic rock and ash, Zia's Cantera is quarried and cut in Mexico, where the material is found naturally and has been a staple in architecture for thousands of years. As with all natural stone, no two tiles are the same; each exhibits unique aggregate while blending seamlessly with surrounding tiles for totally timeless installations.

Helpful and interesting introduction
Format: Paperback
This is a good quick introduction. A good supplement to a course on modernist literature or art. What is important is that it shows the Modernist project as something that encompassed art, literature, psychology, science, and politics--in other words, it contextualizes the movement.

So glad I bought this!
Format: Paperback
I am a lit teacher at an independent school, and was able to use this book to link the literature and the art of the modern movement. My students loved this project - they made their own artwork for a display at school!

Very good comprehensive introduction to Modernism
Format: Kindle
Very good comprehensive introduction to Modernism. Only not too helpful for me at the moment becasue I was looking for something more specific. Butler has this wonderful ability to make connections between the arts. He constructs a bigger picture of the Modern movement where many forms are interlinked, influenced and informed one another. He also has a longer book Early Modernism that might be more helpful if you are looking for indepth and moe detailed discussions.

Delivers on its title
A concise overview of a very big and very slippery subject. Covers a lot of ground with enough information to give the reader reason to explore for herself.
