Evolution theory
アウトドアプロダクトに初めて惹かれたのは、自宅に眠っていた 1970 年代製造のボロボロになった Keltyのアルミフレームバックでした。70 年代当時、多くのバックパッカー達のアイコンとして活躍し、時代を代表するアイテムの 1 つだった。この時代は、1976 年に初めて製品化されたゴアテックスをはじめ、フリースやナイロンなども独自の開発が進み、革新的素材が登場し、耐久性や機能性を重視した「ヘビーデューティー」なアウトドアウェアが登場、アウトドアとファッションが結びつく始まりでもあった。
その後 50 年にわたってアウトドアスタイルは進化し、日常のファッションにも浸透。ブランド設立から20 年間、自身も素材や技術の進歩に影響を受けながら、機能的かつ動きに適した服作りを追求してきた。
今シーズンは、過去のプロダクトを再現するのではなく、現代的な素材や技術を加えることで「過去と今を融合し新しいスタイル」を提案。70 年代の DIY 的スタイルを再構築し、軽量・速乾・伸縮性のある素材で再定義。ニットやアウターも最新技術で設計し、クラシックさと現代性を併せ持つプロダクトで「技術の進化論」を提示している。
また、本テーマを構想する中で、リチャード・セラとジェームズ・タレルの 2 人のアーティストを思い浮かべました。彼らは表現手法は正反対でも、自然との共存を前提とする点で共通しており、自身の服作りにも通じる哲学がある。
その考えを取り入れ、「自然との調和」を重視したプロダクトを設計。リチャード・セラの「重厚さ」とジェームズ・タレルの「軽快さ」を素材や色で融合し、無骨さと軽やかさの対比を表現している。
テクニカルウェアライン「BLK」では長年“黒”を基調にしてきたが、今季はその黒という影の世界に対し、光の反射やカラー、素材を組み合わせることで新たな陰影や立体感を作り出そうとしている。また、機能性重視の直線的なデザインではなく、あえて「曲線」や「波動」を取り入れ、視覚的にも時間や空間の変化を感じさせる設計にしている。
ワイドパラシュートパンツ。フロント、バックにZIPポケットを配置。スピンドル入りの伸縮性のあるウエスト。両脇のストラップでサイズ調節可能。裾内側にドローコードの仕様。タテ糸ヨコ糸に杢調の特殊なポリエステル糸を使用し、特殊技術による非常小さな通気孔で通気性、軽量感のある快適なドットエア素材。プライムフレックス糸を使用し、ストレッチ性も兼ね備える。
