Big brand new Studio One collection on Soul Jazz Records ...

This new release delves deep into the unique melting pot sound of reggae, funk and dub created throughout the 1970s at the Studio One music lab situated at 13 Brentford Road, Kingston, where the intense experiments and collaborations of crack musicians, singers, DJs and engineers under the guidance of producer Clement 'Coxsone' Dodd produced the most forward-thinking music ever to come out of Jamaica.

Here you will find some of the deepest and rawest cuts to emanate out the Studio One factory - truly hypnotic rhythms, powerful funk guitar and bass, soaring horns and more interspersed with occasional vocals and toasting as musicians reach for the highest heights and deepest roots of reggae music.

Some of these tunes here are rare and classic versions to seminal Studio One vocal cuts from the likes of Horace Andy and Hortense Ellis. There is also a wealth of cuts from simply the greatest musicians ever to come out of Jamaica (let alone Studio One). These include Jackie Mittoo, Roland Alphonso, Cedric Brooks, Ernest Ranglin and the Brentford All-Stars.

You will find straight up funk bombs such as Lennie Hibbert's mind-blowing 'Go For Yourself' (sounding like The Meters meets James Brown!), the Brentford All-Stars covering War's classic 'The World is a Ghetto.' and Jackie Mittoo showing how to make Cream's 'Sunshine of Your Love' into a reggae funk bomb!

All of these sit beside super-deep roots and dub cuts that exemplify together how Studio One was unique in Clement Dodd's pioneering vision of reggae, the music created functioning with a continuous level of experimentation that blurred the lines between genres and pushed the outer limits of reggae music at all times.

The album comes with extensive sleevenotes by Steve Barker (Wire magazine) and comes as a double gatefold vinyl + download, CD encased in slipcase and digital album release.

Decent Shoes with Misleading Description (Not Leather)
Size: 12 Wide, Color: Black, Size: 12 Wide, Color: Black
I only look for leather when I’m purchasing dress shoes. Under the description “details” on this item it lists the shoe as leather upper and inner lining. A photo shows “genuine Napa leather lining”. If you keep reading (which I have now that I’ve received the shoes) it shows “faux leather” in the small print and that is not “leather”. I run a small leather business and this irks me because it’s clearly false advertising. The details also show the product is made in Brazil but when they arrived today, the shoe tag shows “Made in China” and “Man Made upper and lower”. I don’t hate the shoes. They look nice. What I know is they won’t hold up over time like leather, which is why the description should be accurate and not misleading.

Perfect buy!
Fit Type: Regular, Size: Large, Color: White
This white denim jacket came today, and finally I bought the perfect jacket! It's actual denim, heavy but not too bulky. It fits perfectly, I bought a large, it's white not off white, and it is EXACTLY what I was looking for! I had to wait a week or two but it is definitely worth the wait! Beautiful jacket, well made and at a decent price! Thanks Amazon Essentials!

Love denim and tired of cropped jackets?
Fit Type: Oversized, Size: Large, Color: Medium Blue Vintage
I like this a lot, it was what I was looking for as far as I'm so over everything you buy these days is cropped. Cropped styles are great, but are kind of getting old for some things in my opinion. The jacket is big as far as how it fits. I am 5'8" about 180 and I wish I would have got a medium, I got a large. The large is big and roomy enough that I could even wear ear a thick hoodie under it if I wanted to. However, the length is good as what I was looking for. The upper arms are large. However, this is a great quality denim jacket. Nice and thick, sturdy material (which I wanted). It's also at a great, competitive low price even if it's not on sale. Don't believe me, go ahead and search jean jackets. You'll see a ton, but I looked too and the quality did not look as good as this and plus the other jackets were a lot more for a lot less. If you're looking for a longer jean jacket, I highly recommend this. I'd say just think seriously about sizing down 1... even maybe 2 sizes. I would have gotten an XL before I read the other reviews. They recommended to size down, and after getting my jacket I could have sized down to a medium. I'm still happy with it and this is a jacket that is stitched well and will last a very long time. As always though, that's just my 2 cents. :)

Nice quality, shape not for me
Fit Type: Oversized, Size: Medium, Color: Medium Blue Vintage
This was just too boxy for my body. Material was nice, quality jean material. Color was true to image. It was a little stiff but as you would expect with nice, new and unwashed denim.

Solid basic good denim jacket
Fit Type: Regular, Size: X-Large, Color: Authentic Medium Wash
In direct comparison to Levi’s women’s trucker denim jacket, this one is: slightly heavier denim, less stretchy, less fitted. I kept this one and returned the Levi’s because I wanted the roomier fit. I wish it was a little longer in the body: I’m tall, and it isn’t too short but I’d like a little more length. It feels slightly longer than the Levi’s. I wish the sleeves were longer too. They are probably just right for an average height or shorter person. The armholes could be smaller. The medium wash is a nice medium blue, fairly even in tone. It doesn’t have a lot of stretch but it’s comfortable. The denim is substantial but not too stiff. Overall, it’s a standard good quality denim jacket without any peculiar style elements or weird cut. It’s good!
