It's 1992 all over again with the Mesa Boogie 90s Dual Rectifier! Throwing back to one of the staples of early '90s high gain guitar, this Mesa creation was fashioned in tribute to the bravado and excitement generated by such '90s models. There's a world of high-gain tonality to get into with this head, care to take the plunge?

The Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier Solo Head first broke ground in 1992 with a formidable wall of tube distortion dense enough to make any hard rock fan's head spin. This amp head, designed with a new voice from Mesa Engineering, featured a scooped midrange, ominous low end, and a blistering, harmonic-packed top end that all added up to one massively heated deluge of tube gain. For players seeking out the absolute cutting edge in high-gain amplified tonality, the Dual Rectifier Solo Head was everything one could ask for and more as it ushered in a new era of crushing amp sounds. Among the amp's accolades were its statuses as among the most recorded, imitated, and modeled amplifiers ever.

Today's 90s Dual Rectifier is a revelation for those after the authentic and original '90s sound. The 90s Dual Rectifier is a faithful recreation of the 1992 original with a number of modern tweaks to make it compatible with today's playing sensibilities. Starting out, the 90s Dual Rectifier features a dual channel design that swaps between "Vintage" and "Modern" gain modes along with dedicated gain, treble, mid, bass, presence, and master control parameters. Between these two modes, players will have a smorgasbord of delectable tube tones to play with, recreating classic '90s sounds or blazing their own trail.

This amp continues to make itself known with channel style and cloning capability that allows for "cloning" of the mode voicings of either channel to keep the channel switching experience lush and robust. The switching experience of the 90s Dual Rectifier expands even further from there with tube or silicon diode rectification that opens up the palette of this amp even wider for deeper tuning of the sound, character, and feel. All of this amp's experience is powered by one hundred Watts of Class A/B tube power that works through a bias select switch that swaps between stock 6L6 and EL34 tubes. Finally, this amp offers up a reduced voltage setting on the Bold/Spongy "Variac" switch that alters the overall feel of the amp to a more elastic disposition with increased harmonic response.

As one of the modern marvels of amplification, the Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier Solo Head made its mark. With this follow-up to such a legendary amp, players of today have access to the unmistakable tones and playing experience used to craft worlds of high-gain amp tonality like those found across the '90s.

High gain Mesa amp crunch? So 1992.

God Works to Deepen Faith and Enlarge Love
Format: Paperback
What a great little book! I hope you will pick up a copy, read it, and reread it. Don't be put off by its brevity (123 pages including end notes and indices). There is depth here. Powlison rejects a "one-size-fits-all" understanding of sanctification, calling for "multiple mundane examples" of Christian growth--calling, in short, for stories of real people in real circumstances, people in and through whom God works in a great variety of ways to deepen faith (vertical transformation) and enlarge love (horizontal transformation). There are several great "take aways" in this book: seven implications of the cross of Christ, five cooperating elements of sanctification, three features of the stories people tell when they describe how God works in their lives to bring about change, and, on top of that, three great stories of growth in grace. I highly recommend David Powlison's How Does Sanctification Work? It won't take you long to read, and it will repay the time you invest with multiple dividends.

Loving Self and Others Well as We Grow
Format: Kindle
This is an excellent discussion of how we ourselves change/mature and how we can love others well on their unique journey. And unique is stressed here - he's a counselor and well knows that people are unique and deserve and require unique counsel. We all receive love differently, in the specific moment and in the specific stage of life and circumstance. His theology is sound and his writing is oh so very clear and beautiful. I almost weep with joy at some of his deep reflections. His "own story" chapters are very insightful as samples of how he and we move from a place we don't want to be (unloving and selfish) to where we can be (loving other well). It's less of a checklist of how to do this than an observation of what's happened in his life and others. It can give a teachable heart a boost of self-compassion and compassion for others.

Need people less, love them more.
Format: Paperback
I just finished this book. AWESOME!!! I got the book simply because of the title and one phrase that hit me hard. "We have to learn to need people less and love them more." The introduction is such that it gets you excited about what you are about to read. But then, the first few chapters, you almost feel as if you've been deceived. But he's just setting things up. I don't think I've ever read a book that continues to get better as you read it. The best part of the book is the last section of the last chapter. Get it. Read it. You will benefit. I promise. Learn to need people less and love them more as you begin decrease your fear of man and increase your fear of the Lord.

Please Please Read This Book!
Format: Paperback
I bought this recent copy for a teen I know who I felt it would help, but I first read When People Are Big years ago. It is so, so helpful for breaking out of the self-absorption that comes with a variety of human conditions, including victimization, being introverted, neurodivergent, socially fearful, or just plain old-fashioned proud, vain, or narcissistic. Obviously, a book can't do that all by itself, but it can point you on the path to stop fearing people and caring, in the wrong way, what they think of you. The book is well-balanced, not blaming people who have been victimized for the challenges they face, but also not leaving them trapped in pain like so much psychological theory does. The book is written for professing Christians, since ultimately, Jesus is the only Way out of all of this. But if you are not a Christian, I still recommend you try reading it for a refreshing new approach to a familiar problem.
