Brazilian architect Abrahão Velvu Sanovicz was a member of "Escola Paulista," an informal cohort of São Paulo architects who embraced exposed concrete as a primary building material.  Sanovicz’s work is particularly synonymous with pairing raw concrete structures with brightly colored access and surrounding them with lush, tropical greenery to offset the rigid lines. His self-designed personal residence, portrayed in this painting, is a reflection and realization of this aesthetic. The bright blue-hued metal accents and landscaping offset the home’s brutalist shape.
