The Royal Purple Extended Life Oil Filter 30-1218 with silicone anti-drain back valves uses 100% synthetic micro-glass filtration media supported by steel mesh backing for superior particle removal. The quality of an oil filter is stated as a percentage of particles caught at a certain size or larger. Royal Purple boasts 99% filtration efficiency at 25 microns or larger, and 80% at 10 microns. We don't believe in messing with perfection, so we only produce one type of oil filter with variations for different motor vehicles.

Not all engine oil filters have an anti-drain back valve, but all Royal Purple Extended Life Automotive Spin-On Oil Filters do. The purpose of an anti-drain back valve is to avoid dry starts that can really grind on your engine. Anti-drain back valves prevent oil drain back when you shut off the vehicle, leaving just enough behind for startup. Our valve is built to last, constructed from durable silicone that outlasts standard rubber in both extreme hot and cold temperatures. The shell of our filter is heavier for extra strength and security from road debris puncture. Heavy-duty nitrile rubber base gasket and metal end caps provide a positive seal and prevent leaks.

When To Change Your Oil Filter:

Changing your oil yourself shouldn't take very long and can save you some money. The question we get most often is: when do oil filters need to be changed? If your car is still under warranty, follow the manufacturer's recommended change interval. If not, the filter and the oil go hand in hand. When the oil goes, the filter goes.
