There's a thin veneer of bark left, sort of looks like elepant skin. This block has been air-dried to 10-12% moisture content. It's been heat-treated to ensure there are no critters left inside. My dogs favorite toy
The tail lasted about 1 minute, but otherwise it has held up pretty good from my super chewer dog, and he treasures it like a prize. I'll need to get a replacement one as its not indestructible, but overall I'm happy with it.

Not as tough as the salmon.
We have the salmon from the same manufacturer and it has endured as few other dog toys have. Unfortunately, the squirrel lasted only two days before developing a ripped seam and began loosing stuffing. Maybe a defective toy based on other reviews.

Pretty durable, ears not so much
