Robert Oatley Signature Series Cabernet Sauvignon 2023 is a robust and elegant expression of Margaret River at its finest — a region that has proven itself the ideal home for Cabernet Sauvignon in Australia, producing wines of powerful structure, finesse, and genuine ageing potential. Crafted by winemaker Larry Cherubino from grapes sourced across the northern sub-regions of Margaret River, this is a wine that embodies Bob Oatley’s founding mantra: a “darned good drink” that delivers immediate appeal without sacrificing depth or complexity.

Appearance

Deep garnet red with ruby highlights, displaying the concentration and intensity characteristic of premium Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon from an outstanding vintage.

Aroma

Expressive and layered, the nose reveals ripe blackberries, cassis, and dark cherry complemented by dried leaves, cedar, and graphite. Subtle hints of tobacco, dark chocolate, and bay leaf add complexity, whilst a whisper of eucalyptus reflects the wine’s authentic Margaret River terroir and varietal purity.

Palate

Robust yet elegant, with generous flavours of blackberry, blackcurrant, and plum supported by fine, gravelly tannins that provide structure and length. Corridors of fruit reveal layers of cedar, dried herbs, and subtle oak spice, whilst the tannins are beautifully integrated — creating a smooth, mouth-coating texture that speaks to both the exceptional vintage and careful winemaking. The finish is persistent and refined, demonstrating genuine elegance behind its powerful fruit core.

Pairs With

Grilled ribeye steak, slow-roasted lamb shoulder, beef Wellington, mushroom and truffle risotto, aged cheddar, venison, and char-grilled vegetables. A versatile Margaret River Cabernet that complements rich, savoury dishes whilst showcasing its refined structure and fruit intensity.
