Free shipping is available for this compelling and insightful book, and delivery may take up to 6 weeks. Once your order is placed, it cannot be cancelled. This BRAND NEW edition, published by John Wiley & Sons (UK) in 2017 and spanning 160 pages, delves deeply into the urgent issues surrounding global population growth. With an ISBN of 9781509515844, this essential read by renowned demographer Massimo Livi Bacci explores the staggering projection that by the next generation, Earth's population will increase by 2.5 billion—highlighting the disparity in growth rates between rich and poor nations. While affluent countries face aging populations, developing regions will experience significant youth surges, leading to a plethora of socio-political challenges. Livi Bacci critically analyzes the implications of this uneven demographic shift, including domestic social stability, international migration patterns, and ecological sustainability. Drawing on over 10,000 years of historical context, he illustrates the stark reality that the space per person on our planet has diminished drastically. This book serves as a crucial discussion on the limits of Earth's capacity and emphasizes the urgent need for sustainable development strategies. An indispensable resource for anyone interested in understanding the moral and political ramifications of living in an increasingly crowded world, this title is a must-have for forward-thinking individuals and policymakers alike.Note: Shipping for this item is free. Description:
In the space of another generation, the population of the earth will rise by 2.5 billion. Yet the real problem we face is not so much the increase in numbers as the fact that growth will be highly uneven. Whereas rich countries will see aging populations with little growth, populations in poor countries will double or even triple, having a much higher percentage of young people.
Against this backdrop, demographer Massimo Livi Bacci examines the implications of this disproportionate demographic development for domestic social stability, international migration flows, the balance of power among nations and the natural environment. Covering 10,000 years of human history from the Stone Age to the present, Livi Bacci shows how the space available for every inhabitant of the planet has decreased by a factor of a thousand. The notion of limits to the world's capacity - which once seemed a remote matter - is now among the most pressing issues we face, and the need to create effective global mechanisms for sustainable development is now more urgent than ever
An indispensable book for anyone concerned with the moral and political implications of our ever more crowded planet.

Avoid These Shoes
Size: 10, Color: Grey
The pair I received (gray) was not represented well in their photos. Mine had a lime green logo which looks silly. They also bunch up very badly when you pull the laces which looks ridiculous. Cheap feeling and look bad when tied. Sending back

Great pair of shoes
Size: 10, Color: Burgundy
I was a bit concerned that these shoes would be a bit large because I normally wear a size 9 1/2 and these are a size 10. But they fit perfectly. They are very light and comfortable. 👍
