A softball-sized ball vase (fastpitch) with a vibrant, streaky, azure glaze from the Næstved studio of Danish master potter Christian Schollert. With its sturdy and gently flaring lip, the form bears some resemblance to a stylized pomegranate. Thrown at his eponymous studio in the 1960s.

CHRISTIAN SCHOLLERT (1839–1919) was a highly regarded Danish ceramicist, whose pieces ranged from Art Deco table lamps to modernist stoneware bowls and often featured intricate designs and distinctive glazes, including a signature cobalt blue that often appeared on large sculptural and architectural pieces. Much of his work evokes the streamlined aesthetic of the Machine Age. He founded SCHOLLERT KERAMIK in Næstved (also the home of Kähler Keramik), a small city in the southern part of Zealand, in 1932, and also maintained a workshop in Nærum in the northern outskirts of Copenhagen. Schollert’s output extended over several decades, with attributions that stretch from the 1930s to the 1960s.

SCHOLLERT KERAMIK became particularly famous in the 1940s for producing classically crafted vases and plates fluted with relatively deep and precisely symmetrical grooves—a modernist style inspired by the technical wonders of industrialization. Often produced with reddish clays, the vessels were typically glazed in delicate blues, grays, and greens. Such functionalist ceramics emphasized that mechanical expression itself could take precedence over the representation of nature.

Schollert was second in a four-generation line of ceramic artists. His father, Christian Johansen (Schollert adopted his mother’s surname), produced earthenware in the Zealand town of Korsør in the early 1900s. His daughter, Helle Allpass (1932–2000), was a graduate of the Danish Academy of Fine Arts and a master-trained potter. She opened a studio north of Copenhagen in 1964 and helped to found the Association of Danish Craftsmen in 1976. Today, the works of both Schollert and Allpass are considered highly collectible. Allpass’ daughter, Ana Schollert, continues the family tradition at her own Copenhagen studio.

Great home office dividers!
Size: 3-Panel
Needed something to create a home office that would stand on an uneven basement floor. These are the perfect solution! No prying eyes and only took me an hour to put up both sets by myself, pretty easy. They are completely opaque.

Fine Simple Product, Works as Advertised
Size: 3-Panel
Performs as advertised, a simple upright divider. I use it to mark my "office" space when working from home. Assembly was straightforward and well documented. One person can do it, but a second person can be helpful when sliding the fabric divider pieces onto their poles. Part quality is fine for the price point. The only mild annoyance is that the upright poles can start getting loose from the metal feet, and need to be retightened occasionally (Allen wrench is included, keep it handy for retightening). It's fairly lightweight and easy to reposition, but the feet are heavy enough to keep it steady once placed. All in all, a good product. I was pleased enough to buy a second one when my son wanted something to block sunlight from behind his computer desk.

Wobbly and Poor Design
Size: 1-Panel
Update: nope! Not worth the money. My cat simply brushed against the divider, and it fell, knocking breakable things over. Not safe! It serves it's purpose, but...the screws were basically glued to the packaging. It took me longer to get the screws out of the packaging than it did to put it together. The assembly was easy. I am not mechanically inclined by any means, but the instructions, despite being very hard to read (I have over 40 eyes), were pretty simple. Structurally, it is very wobbly. I think they should have designed it with a middle rod to keep it more stable. I find that the attachments to the rods are wobbly and should have been screwed rather than popped into an attachment hole without reinforcement. That would have also made the room divider more stable. I have cats, but the material is easy to clean. I took a damp cloth to it, and it came right off. As far as see-through...I think it does a great job of masking theO other side of the room.. I just wish it was a little longer and closer to the floor stand. I like that it came with extra parts. It's just a very cheaply made item, and I don't think the price for the item reflects how cheaply it is made, how wobbly and unstable it is, or the poor design.
