De decoratieve bladeren zijn rood paars van kleur en de takken hangen fraai. De volgroeide hoogte van deze grote struik is ca. 4-5 meter (groeit echter zeer langzaam) en populair in vijvertuinen. Deze Esdoorn struik heeft de vorm van een paddestoel. Deze breed spreidende Japanse Esdoorn heester verdraagt temperaturen tot -20 graden Celsius.

Aanplanting en standplaats Japanse Esdoorn - Acer palmatum 'Inaba-shidare'

Alle Japanse esdoorn - Acer palmatum soorten zijn zuurminnende tuinplanten. Gebruik daarom bij het aanplanten DCM - Aanplantgrond voor zuurminnende tuinplanten. Voorzie de grond jaarlijks van tuinturf om de bodem zuur te houden. Laat het afgevallen blad in het najaar liggen, deze verzuren tegelijkertijd de grond. De Japanse esdoorn soorten met rood en oranje blad staan graag op een plek in de halfschaduw, maar zijn ook geschikt voor een plek in de volle zon (zoals deze Japanse Esdoorn - Acer palmatum 'Inaba-shidare'), mits de grond voldoende vochtig is in de zomermaanden. Geef tijdens droogte dus regelmatig water.

De Japanse esdoorn soorten met groen blad staan graag op een plek in de halfschaduw en zijn minder bestand tegen de volle zon (deze kan het blad wat verbranden). Deze Japanse Esdoorn - Acer palmatum 'Inaba-shidare'is geschikt voor verhoogde borderbakken en in borders in de volle grond.

Japanse esdoorn struiken zijn ook geschikt om aan te planten in pot. In de pot dient een laag hydrokorrels te zitten (ongeveer 1/3 van de pot of plantenbak) en goede aanplantgrond. Gebruik bij het aanplanten dan DCM - Zuurminnende aanplantgrond.
