Dion Fortune is het pseudoniem van Violet Firth, één van de belangrijkste vrouwelijke esoterici uit de eerste helft van de vorige eeuw. Dion Fortune schreef diverse handboeken over occultisme en parapsychologie. De Mystieke Kabbala geldt tot op de dag van vandaag als een der belangrijkste boeken ooit over dit onderwerp geschreven en kan dan ook worden beschouwd als haar grootste werk. De eerste Nederlandse vertaling verscheen in 1939 en werd vele malen herdrukt.
