Onze vinologen vlogen ’s morgens vroeg richting de bruisende havenstad Bari om deze regio te gaan ontdekken. Eenmaal op de plaats van bestemming, Tarente, waren wij net op tijd voor het aperitief.Ploffend op een stoel van de meest authentieke ‘trattoria’, vroegen wij om de beste wijn van Puglia. Varvaglione Susumaniello Rosso werd geopend en ingeschonken. Wanneer het pure sap onze lippen aanraakten wisten wij het meteen: we zijn echt in Italië!

De wijnen van Varvaglione

Ons oorspronkelijke doel van deze trip was nieuwe wijnen ontdekken. Wij wisten meteen dat wij wijnhuis Varvaglione moesten bezoeken, om deze wijn achterna te gaan. De afspraak was gemaakt en de volgende ochtend gingen we op weg. Na een korte rit doemt het wijnhuis al op. Diverse torens, waarvan je de invloed van de Arabieren en de Moren duidelijk ziet, sieren elegant de horizon. Anna, haast een familielid van Varvaglione, verwelkomt ons vriendelijk op de met cipressen omlijste oprit en met oleander gevulde bloembakken. Ons enthousiasme over Varvaglione Susumaniello Rosso kunnen we niet onder stoelen of banken schuiven. Anna vertelt ons dat de Susumaniello haast uitgestorven was in Puglia, maar dat enkele gerenommeerde wijnhuizen, waaronder Varvaglione, deze druif nieuw leven hebben ingeblazen. Wijnmaker en eigenaar Cosimo Varvaglione heeft zich persoonlijk hard gemaakt tot de ontwikkeling van de Susumaniello, waarvan we nu eindelijk van de eerste oogst mogen gaan genieten.

Indrukken van Varvaglione Susumaniello Rosso

Eenmaal in de proefkelder van Varvaglione laat Anna ons nogmaals Varvaglione Susumaniello Rosso proeven. Met het verhaal erbij lijkt de wijn nog lekkerder te smaken. Het heeft ontzettend veel ocmplexiteit en smaak in zich. Het lijkt wel of met iedere slok een nieuw smaakpallet wordt voorgesteld aan je smaakpapillen. Aroma’s van dikke pruimen en kersenjam voren een basis, waarbij steeds andere nuances aan worden toegevoegd. Kersensnoepjes, vanille en zelfs iets van marsepein. Gebrande koffiebonen in de afdronk zorgen voor de nodige pit in de wijn. Echt een persoonlijke favoriet waar onze vinologen ontzettend vrolijk van worden. Misschien wel een van de beste wijnen van heel Puglia.

I wondered, how could this be? The only change that I made was adding this product to my routine a little over two years ago. There is an actual noticeable difference. Now, I realize that my experience is nowhere near proof beyond all doubt, however, I’m not taking any chances. I will continue to use this product daily. It’s relatively inexpensive and my results have been great.

Game changer!!
This stuff is amazing! I bought it because there was somewhat of a trend online saying glycolic acid is great for girls with sensitive skin. I’m inclined to agree because I have very dry, sensitive skin and this product works very well on my face and my legs (post shave). This is meant to lightly exfoliate the skin, so if you’ve just shaved your face or skin, a day later, this is great to put on to help prevent any irritation. Also, this is good for dry skin! When I have some dry patches on my face, I buff the dead skin off very gently but thoroughly. Then I use this toner to help prevent it from coming back. I was skeptical this would work because my skin is so extremely dry sometimes, but it really works! It was perfect for doing my makeup with. I use it every once in a while if I need any extra exfoliating. Do bear in mind, though, it smells really bad. I think it’s the witch hazel or something, but the product by itself smells quite gross. Definitely put lotion on a few minutes after it absorbs into the skin. This is a great product and I’m very happy with it. 10/10 when used wisely.

NOT a "dupe" but has the same results.
I am NOT saying this is a "dupe" or that they are the same in any way because they definitely have different ingredient profiles... so don't come for me... But what I will say is that if you like the first aid beauty radiance pads but don't like the price tag then this may be a cheaper option for you. This is my second bottle of this toner and 3rd tub of pads and for me personally they perform the same. The Thayers is a little stronger of an exfoliant so if you have sensitive or dry skin do a patch test to see how your skin handles it. I use it in the morning after I wash my face. It gives my skin a nice glow, removes dead skin and anything left over after washing my face and just like the radiance pads helps my makeup lay so much better. I have cotton tissues that are smooth on 1 side and textured on the other that I use instead of cotton rounds. I pair it with the Thayers milky toner, maybe some other hydrating toners, a serum, a gel moisturizer and always SPF and even without makeup my skin looks amazing and healthy all day. This is also a 12oz bottle and lasts a long time because you don't need to use a lot for it to do it's job.
