De plaat werd geproduceerd door David en Charlie Andrew, vooral bekend van zijn werk met ALT-J en Marika Hackman, en de teksten zijn grotendeels geschreven door Polly Samson, de afgelopen dertig jaar de co-schrijver van Gilmour. Het album bevat acht nieuwe nummers, samen met een prachtige bewerking van ‘Between Two Points’ van The Montgolfier Brothers, waarin Romany Gilmour de achtergrondzang op het hele album vertolkt, en ook op harp te horen is.

Muzikanten die aan de plaat bijdragen zijn onder meer Guy Pratt & Tom Herbert op bas, Adam Betts, Steve Gadd en Steve DiStanislao op drums, Rob Gentry & Roger Eno op keyboards en de strijkers- en koorarrangementen zijn van Will Gardner. Het titelnummer bevat ook de inmiddels overleden Pink Floyd-toetsenist Richard Wright, opgenomen in 2007 tijdens een ‘Barn Jam’ bij David thuis. De coverafbeelding van het album, gefotografeerd en ontworpen door de bekende kunstenaar Anton Corbijn, is geïnspireerd op de teksten geschreven door Charlie Gilmour voor het laatste nummer van het album, ‘Scattered’.
