Hammond, die Dylan eerder naar het label had gehaald. De opname was een snelle en efficiënte bezitting, slechts gemaakt in enkele uren en kostte volgens Hammond ongeveer 402 dollar. Het album bestaat voornamelijk uit folkstandaards, aangevuld met twee originele composities van Dylan zelf. De meeste nummers werden in één enkele take opgenomen, omdat Dylan weigerde tweede takes op te nemen. Hij zei hierover: "Ik kan mezelf niet zien dezelfde song twee keer achter elkaar te zingen. Dat is vreselijk." Het album introduceert de eerste stappen van Dylan als professionele muzikant en vormt de basis waarop zijn legendarische unieke stijl is gebouwd. Het album werd opgenomen op LP-formaat en bevat een mix van traditionele Amerikaanse folk- en bluesMuziek uit verschillende regio's. I will skeptical when buying these because I have a pitbull bulldog that likes to chew holes in every toy. I’m not sure if it was from the same seller or not but those ones they don’t favor as much for some reason I seen the same different colors. My dog even sleeps with it sometimes. The picture shows for sleeping with it. I’m definitely happy. I got these. They are tough. I like the fact that they have those little recessed holes so they can grab a hold of it and not get it all slimy like the other balls we have.
