Een prachtig samenspel van de druivenrassen Tinta Roriz, Touriga Franca en Touriga Nacional. Deze lokale druiven zijn afkomstig van 30 jaar oude wijnstokken en hebben ieder bijzonder eigenschappen weten te ontwikkelen. Het is een gestructureerde wijn met een complexe smaak en geur.

Kwalitatieve wijnen van Invincible

Ervaren wijnmakers Rita Marques en Marc Kent besloten jarengeleden de handen ineen te slaan en hebben sindsdien samengewerkt bij verschillende wijnprojecten. In 2020 besloten ze, terwijl iedereen in de ban was van de pandemie, een nieuwe weg in te slaan. Zo kochten ze samen een wijngaard in Casais do Douro waar ze gezamenlijk hun eerste wijn op de markt brachten. De focus ligt op kwaliteit die zoals bekend van deze twee altijd ongekend hoog is. De wijngaarden liggen op imposante terrassen langs de rivier, waar de diepgewortelde wijnstokken kunnen genieten van het perfecte klimaat. De druiven worden bij optimale rijpheid geoogst en meteen naar de wijnmakerij gebracht. Ze worden hier vervolgens gesorteerd en voorzichtig geperst. Hierna vindt de fermentatie plaats in roestvrijstalen tanks bij een gecontroleerde temperatuur. Tot slot rijpt de wijn nog zo’n 16 maanden op eikenhouten vaten voor extra complexiteit. De wijn wordt gebotteld en voorzien van een bijzonder etiket. De labels vertegenwoordigen de strijd tussen Adamastor en de Portugese zeelieden. Een knipoog naar de geschiedenis.

Een complexe en krachtige Number One Red

Het lange wachten wordt beloond met deze rode wijn van Invincible. In het glas aroma’s van kersen, bramen en andere fruitige nuances. In de smaak heeft het in eerste instantie een elegante droge smaak. Complex in smaak en geur met precies genoeg tannine. Mooi gebalanceerd met een krachtige en complexe afdronk die de smaakbeleving helemaal afmaakt. Past perfect bij vleesgerechten, wild of gerijpte kazen.
