De serie Kings of Prohibition weerspiegelt een tijd waarin het verbod op alcohol een schaduw wierp over het land, maar waar bijvoorbeeld Roy Olmstead manieren vonden om de wet te omzeilen. Hij was politie-luitenant die zich schuldig maakte aan het smokkelen van sterke drank. Voor dit eerbetoon is een blend gebruikt van Cabernet Sauvignon, Ruby Cabernet Sauvignon en Shiraz. Maar het alle bijzonderste is de wijze waarop deze wijn rijpt. Kings of Prohibition Old Tawny Roy Olmstead heeft zijn oorsprong in de uitgestrekte wijngaarden van Australië, een land dat al lang wordt gevierd om zijn uitmuntende wijnen. Hoewel Australië behoort tot de 'nieuwe wereld' van wijnproductie, is het zuidoosten van het land in het bijzonder een thuis voor prachtige wijngaarden die gedijen in het gunstige klimaat.Langdurige rijping op whiskyvaten
De druiven voor deze bijzondere wijn worden geoogst op het moment van optimale rijpheid. Na een korte periode van fermentatie op de schil, ondergaat de wijn een zorgvuldig vinificatieproces. De druivenspirit wordt toegevoegd aan het gistingsproces, wat resulteert in een unieke karakterontwikkeling. Een specifiek deel van de wijn rijpt gedurende een jaar in gebruikte whiskyvaten, waar het zijn diepte en complexiteit verder ontwikkelt. Kings of Prohibition Old Tawny Roy Olmstead betovert met zijn medium tawny kleur en weelderige, verwarmende smaak. In de geur bijzondere aroma’s van toffee, vanille, kersen en karamel. Zodra we de eerste slok nemen, valt meteen de volle en rijke smaak op. Hoewel de wijn een zoete ondertoon heeft, verrast hij met een frisse en levendige afdronk. Part of a Set

Video lectures, just as the subtitle promises
I was seduced into buying this set on the basis of NT Wright's reputation and advertising graphics showing Holy Land locations. Consequently, I didn't pay sufficient attention to the subtitle: "The New Testament in Its World: Video Lectures." And "lectures" is exactly what this set delivers. Talking heads, lecturing on the New Testament; sometimes in a studio, sometimes in eastern Mediterranean locations.
The content is solid evangelical biblical scholarship. My disappointment is the almost complete lack of engagement with the spectacular settings much of these films are shot in. It seems to me that Wright and his producers missed a real opportunity by failing more explicitly to relate their lecture content to the places where they're standing.
I give this set a three-star rating. The lectures are a perfectly fine introduction to the New Testament, if that's what you're looking for -- but you could put them on CDs or MP3s and listen in the car. The graphics add very little to these presentations.

Didn't get a lot out of it
My wife got me this for a Christmas present. Having previously made it through Eusebius' "Proof of the Gospel", she figured I could handle it. I know this is part of Zondervan's Academic product line and as such is not aimed at a general audience. What I discover was that if the audience lacks credentials in Philosophy or Theology, the incessant use of jargon and terminology that would most often only be encountered in a Seminary or Religious College is something I found off-putting.

Respectful Critics
Format: Paperback
Wright and Bird do an excellent job of discussing the New Testament. They offer insights from the most widely held opinions and then offer their own with a multitude of resources. It is an excellent resources within its self.
