Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru ‘Champs Canet’ – Domaine Latour-Giraud

Puligny-Montrachet ligt tussen Meursault en Chassagne-Montrachet en maakt samen met die twee dorpen deel uit van het hart van de grote witte Bourgognes. Wereldberoemde grands crus zoals Montrachet en Bâtard-Montrachet liggen op de grens van Puligny en Chassagne, terwijl Chevalier-Montrachet en Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet exclusief in Puligny liggen.

Van de 235 hectare AOC-wijngaarden zijn er 21 bestemd voor deze grands crus, met daarnaast 100 hectare verdeeld over elf premier cru-terroirs. Rood wordt hier amper geproduceerd: jaarlijks gemiddeld slechts 300 hectoliter.

De Premier Cru ‘Champs Canet’, gelegen aan de grens met Meursault, naast het prestigieuze ‘Perrières’, beslaat zo’n 4 hectare. De naam zou verwijzen naar een vroegere eigenaar: “de velden van Canet”. Deze cru uit het noordelijke deel van Puligny staat bekend om zijn verfijnde en elegante stijl – meer subtiel dan uitbundig.

Domaine Latour-Giraud bezit hier 34 are met zeer fijne, kiezelrijke bodems. De wijn die hieruit voortkomt is uitzonderlijk elegant: fijn van structuur, met subtiele florale tonen, een zachte, zijdezachte textuur en een verfijnde afdronk met hints van geroosterde amandel en een zweem van rook.
