De Baby Pelham is een mildere versie van de gewone Pelham, met kortere scharen die zorgen voor een minder sterke hefboomwerking. Dit maakt het effect zachter dan bij de reguliere Pelham. Net als de gewone Pelham kan de Baby Pelham met één of twee teugels worden gebruikt, met de juiste verbinding tussen de ringen bij gebruik van één teugel.

Pelham-bitten zouden alleen moeten worden gebruikt door professionele ruiters of onder begeleiding van een trainer. Hoewel het bit effectief is wanneer het correct wordt gebruikt, kan onjuist gebruik leiden tot ongemak of schade aan het paard.
