Over de auteur

Ze is Amerikaanse luchtmacht veteraan en deed jarenlang wat volgens gezondheidsdeskundigen ‘alles wat juist is’ om gewicht te verliezen en optimaal gezond te blijven, maar de verwachte resultaten bleven helaas uit.
Omdat ze wilde begrijpen waarom het reguliere advies over caloriearme, vetarme diëten en lichaamsbeweging niet de verwachte resultaten opleverde, ging ze op onderzoek uit en kwam erachter dat de huidige ‘gezonde diëten’ voor het merendeel door en door ongezond zijn.
Nadat ze zelf een harde leerschool had doorlopen, is ze anderen duidelijk gaan maken dat om stralend gezond te worden het niet nodig is om jezelf uit te hongeren, je van alles te ontzeggen of dag en nacht in de sportschool door te brengen.

Ethiopia from the time when the Queen of Sheba ruled

Ethiopia has a long rich history that Captivating History managed to cover in 100 pages. This book starts out by letting us know that Ethiopia is one of the first places humans settled in. One of the first kingdoms in Ethiopia was the Kingdom of Aksum. Like most African countries, Aksum established trade routes and had the silk road running through their kingdom.
The Queen of Sheba is a controversial historical leader. Many scholars believe she was queen in Ethiopia. The bible states that a queen of the south came to Israel to meet King Solomon. Historians believe that the queen of the south was in fact the Queen of Sheba. While the queen was there her and King Solomon became very close and when the Queen of Sheba returned to Ethiopia she had King Solomon's baby. Menelik I may have been King Solomon's son. Some believe that when Menelik I when to visit his father, King Solomon, Menelik returned to Ethiopia with the Ark of the Covenant. Some believe that the ark is hidden away in some Ethiopian monastery, still today.
There is still a lot of Ethiopia's history left for you to learn about by reading this book.

History of Ethiopia

Ethiopia is an essential nation-state in Africa. It has a great civilization and history. The reign of Johannes IV was crucial to the Kingdom of Ethiopia. Moreover, Haile Selassie was another vital emperor. Ethiopia suffered under communism. Currently, Ethiopia faces foreign challenges from its neighbors and political corruption domestically. Specifically, political unrest dominates the domestic life of Ethiopia. The author presents and discusses the achievements and challenges of the Ethiopian people from Ancient Times to Modern Times. It is a well-written book.

While traveling in Ethiopia as a tourist.

It is a very concrete and well written history of Ethiopia. While traveling in a photo tour I decided I wanted to know more of the contrasting country my shoes were on. I think this short book completes my need to my entire satisfaction

Informative, compact history of rulers, religion and struggles.
Format: Kindle
This book is well written. It filled out my knowledge of Ethiopia, which was mostly that it was isolated from neighbors and most empires. I had heard of biblical contacts, two Italian invasions, civil wars and famines.
In this book I learned of contacts with ancient Rome, Byzantium, the Ottomans, and Arabs. Trade carried on the silk road, and by sea. There was influence of Judaism, Islam and competing Christian sects. The sequence of leaders were covered as well as how they came to power. Many conflicts are covered, insurrections and invasions. The Haile Selassie period is covered, as well as his downfall. Then the military period is covered, with communism and factionalism. Finally the recent period is covered,up to the present civil wars of 2022.
I would recommend this compact book, for anyone planning a visit, or wanting background knowledge.
