Hoeveelheid suiker in Horslyx

Horslyx bevat weinig suiker in verhouding tot het voer dat paarden dagelijks krijgen. Zo eet een paard van 500 kg dagelijks 50 kg aan gras, dat wel 2000 g aan suiker bevat. Wanneer hetzelfde paard 0,25 kg van Horslyx per dag neemt, krijgt het paard 82,5 g suiker binnen. Doordat paarden dagelijks zo weinig innemen van Horslyx, krijgen ze weinig extra suiker binnen. Daarnaast kunnen paarden suiker goed verdragen, vooral als ze verdeeld over de dag steeds kleine hoeveelheden binnenkrijgen (zoals tijdens het grazen of het likken aan een liksteen).
