De meesten wijngaarden in het gebied liggen hoger gesitueerd. Gemiddeld tussen de 300 en 800 meter boven zeeniveau. De twee grote sterren in het gebied zijn de witte druif Godello en de blauwe druif Mencia. Het gebied brengt al decennia lang wijnen van zeer hoge kwaliteit voort. Iets wat gelukkig vandaag de dag meer erkenning krijgt.

Bodegas Gancedo is een familiewijnmakerij in Quilós (Cacabelos) in de regio El Bierzo. Het domein beslaat vandaag de dag zo'n 85 hectare wijngaarden.
Onder de Bierzo-oorsprongsbenaming is het hoofddoel om op traditionele wijze  wijnen van hoge kwaliteit te produceren. Het bedrijf produceert al generaties lang wijn in de regio. Tegenwoordig gebeurt dit ook nog een volledig biologisch. Na jarenlang werk gericht op duurzaamheid, kwaliteit en bodemgezondheid heeft  men de CAECYL-certificering voor biologische landbouw behaald.
Deze prestaties vertegenwoordigen een toewijding om in harmonie met de natuur te werken om de beste grondstoffen te cultiveren waarmee ze hun wijnen kunnen maken.
