In Asterix en de Olympische Spelen volg je Asterix, Obelix en hun trouwe druïde Panoramix op hun reis naar Olympia. Iets wat alleen wordt bereikt door verschillende evenementen op de Olympische Spelen te winnen.

Je kunt in Asterix en de Olympische Spelen kiezen uit meerdere modi. Zo is er de 'Adventure Mode' waarin je als Asterix of Obelix kan spelen. Alles draait bij deze modus om het liefdesverhaal van Brutus, Lovestorix en prinses Irina. Naast de verschillende evenementen zal ook menig hersenkraker moeten worden opgelost. In de 'Antique Mode' kun je de verschillende losse disciplines spelen met twaalf speelbare personages die een verzameling zijn van bekende Galliërs en atleten uit de oudheid.
