In deze volledig herziene derde druk van Het Gouden Boekje voor het Hart presenteert Gert Schuitemaker acht lifestyle-stappen om hart- en vaatziekten te voorkomen. Vier stappen gaan over voeding en voedingssupplementen: eet mediterraan, neem dagelijks de basissuppletie, blijf alert in uw eigen keuken én gebruik age-essentials bij het ouder worden. De bekendste age-essentials zijn R-alfaliponzuur, L-carnitine en ubiquinol ofwel de ‘actieve vorm" van coënzym Q10.

Blijven vier stappen over, waaronder bewegen, stoppen met roken en het beperken van stressoren. De achtste lifestyle-stap is periodiek een check-up te laten doen. Over de auteur:
Dr. Gert E. Schuitmaker is apotheker en doctor inde geneeskunde.
In 2004 promoveerde hij op het thema risicofactoren voor hart- en vaatziekten.
Hij houdt zich al vanaf 1980 bezig met de orthomoleculaire geneeskunde volgens de principes van tweevoudig Nobelprijswinnaar Linus Pauling.
Schuitemaker is voorzitter van de International Society for Orthomolecular Medicine en hoofdredacteur van de tijdschriften Ortho en Fit me Voeding
