De Fox FX9 molen is een oerdegelijke karper molen en tevens de kleinste telg uit de Fox FX molenserie. De Fox FX9 is de kleinste karper molen uit de FX serie en is hierdoor met name geschikt voor het gebruik bij de visserij op karper op korte tot middellange afstanden. Bij de Fox FX molenserie is er maximaal aandacht besteed aan de verbeteringen van het aandrijfwerk, nieuwe technische ontwikkelingen en een strakke en stijlvolle uitstraling. Één van de deze ontwikkelingen is de Super Slow Oscillation. De Super Slow Oscillation zorgt voor een langzame \"op en neer\" beweging van de molenspoel bij het indraaien van de lijn. Door deze langzame beweging wordt de lijn perfect op de spoel gezet bij het indraaien. De Fox FX9 molen heeft een inhaalsnelheid per rotatie van 80 cm. Wat technische ontwikkelingen betreft heeft de EOS Pro molen een Rotor uitgebalanceerd profiel waardoor de molen met een perfecte balans in hand ligt. De Fox FX9 molens zijn voorzien van een Quick front slip met vuilbeschermers op de voorkant van de molenspoel. Met deze gevoelige goedwerkende slip ben je in alle omstandigheden altijd de baas bij het vangen en drillen van de grootste karpers binnen heel Europa. Het uiterlijk van de Fox FX9 molen heeft een matzwarte styling en is afgewerkt met subtiele grafische details. De body van de molen is vervaardigd uit een stevig grafiet materiaal en een aandrijving op 5 RVS kogellagers + 1 rollager. De molenspoel is voorzien van maar liefst 2 lijnvriendelijke casting lijnclips.

The pics are super, with short descriptions, and moderate on the tech. It's an amazing pulse of this wild history, and mostly is from America's lineage. St. Louis, Mercury, Atlas, and up to current Shuttle. There's also the SST, and unique turn of the century early birds. A fine read to be shared with a youngster (my son 10, digs it), or for the history or engineering buff. amazon has it cheaper than at the museum.

Lasting value but degraded presentation
Format: Paperback
I've been a BBP fan since the first edition in 2005. The second edition in 2007 was a significant update and refinement. The latest, 2011 edition, is not worth buying if you already have the second edition -- the information is essentially the same but the 2011 is printed on cheap paper and the contrast between text and background for most of the illustrations is lousy, e.g. black text on a dark grey background, white text on a light grey background. I found it very difficult to read. The online version (O'Reilly Safari Books OnLine) is slightly better because it allows you to magnify the low contrast images which makes them slightly more legible. Thankfully, access to the online version is included with the ink-on-paper book free via a scratch-off, lottery ticket-type insert at the back of the book. If I had to do it again, I'd skip the paper book from Amazon and just purchase electronic access via O'Reilly. This version is more legible and you can print important pages that you might want hard copies of to highlight, mark-up, etc.
