Brooklyn - één van de mooiste wielershirts ooit - nu ook in de RedTed Performance collectie. Een comfortabele aerodynamisch kwaliteit shirt met een historische uitstraling. Het is een replica van de Italiaanse professionele koerstrui Brooklyn uit de periode 1970 tot 1977. Een Italiaans gesneden professioneel wielershirt met een Amerikaanse look.

Brooklyn is een voormalige wielerploeg van Italiaanse afkomst. Een ploeg met één van de mooiste historische koerstruien. De naam en het shirt lijken Amerikaans, maar Brooklyn is Italiaanse kauwgom die werd gemaakt in Milaan. Nadat ze de Amerikaanse soldaten op de typische kauwgom met sterren en strepen hadden zien kauwen, besloten de broers Egidio en Ambrogio in 1946 om ook kauwgum te gaan produceren. Het grote succes van hun bedrijf komt pas in 1969 met de lancering van Brooklyn, kauwgom met de USA stripes en met de beroemde brug van New York als imago. Dit werd een groot succes. In 2001 werd het bedrijf als Perfetti Van Melle samengevoegd met het Nederlandse bedrijf Van Melle (Fruittella en Mentos). De Perfetti familie behoort nu tot één van de rijkste families van Italië.

Het oorspronkelijke wielerteam werd in 1970 opgericht onder de naam Dreher maar veranderde deze in 1973 naar Brooklyn. Deze wielerploeg was actief in de periode van 1970 tot 1977. Het was voornamelijk een team dat te bewonderen was op de ééndaagse wielerklassiekers. Roger De Vlaeminck, viervoudig winnaar van Paris-Roubaix, is de bekendste rijder die de wielerploeg in dienst heeft gehad. De Vlaeminck heeft in totaal vijf seizoenen gereden voor Brooklyn.


Roger De Vlaeminck - Milan San Remo 1973

Onder de sponsornaam Brooklyn behaalde het team een indrukwekkende reeks overwinningen, waaronder 3 titels van Parijs-Roubaix (1974, 1975 en 1977), 2 titels van Giro di Lombardia (1974, 1976), Milaan-San Remo (1973) en de Ronde van Vlaanderen (1977). Deze werden allemaal gewonnen door Brooklyn super wielrenner: De Vlaeminck. Het Brooklyn team bestond uit een mix van Belgische en Italiaanse renners waaronder Johan De Muynck, Ronald de Witte, Ercole Gualazzanie, Marcello Osler en Eric De Vlaeminck. Ook de Belgische Patrick Sercu maakte deel uit van dit team, hij won een groot aantal wedstrijden zoals het groene trui-klassement van de Tour de France in 1974. In 1977 stopte Brooklyn Chewing Gum met het sponsoren van de wielerploeg.

I’ve had a hard time trying to find toys that my dog, Zara loves because she’s actually very picky. Ive gotten plenty of Kong toys that are well known to be indestructible but she wants nothing to do with them. Then I got her ropes and that seemed to be good for a while until she was getting sick in the middle of the night from eating all of the string. Stuffed toys aren’t good because she’ll rip them within seconds and eat all of the stuffing. I felt like I’ll never score the perfect toy for her. I found the three layered cactus toy and decided to give it a go. It’s clearly designed to be ripped and destroyed to get the ball in the middle which is actually really cute and fun to see all of the layers. The cactus arms have stuffing and of course that’s the first thing she went for and ate. I had to watch her and make sure I took the stuffing away before she ate it. And before I knew it, she ate half of the first layer fabric lol once she got through the first layer, all she’s been doing is walking around the house with the toy in her mouth. But now she’s tired and passed out on the couch from all of the fun. This toy won’t last long with a toy destroyer but it sure does give them something to do and it’s a cute toy. I do recommend!!

Great Bone for aggressive chewers but watch the wear & tear
I’m extremely happy I found Benebone Bacon Flavor Large Wishbone for my puppy who is an aggressive chewer. As the packaging reads this is a durable nylon. My puppy chewed the bone down to what you see in the picture within 3 days. It’s easy for him to handle. He loves the bacon flavor. He immediately took to it as soon as I gave it to him & off he went to work. I did check with my Veterinarian first to inquire if this was a safe bone & she assured me it was. She did advise to be aware of the wear & tear on the bone & toss when I felt it was time. I honestly wouldn’t of known when. I’m happy I took the time to read the inside of the packaging this bone came in. It referred me to the benebone website which showed pictures of bones-which I attached- that reflect the wear & tear & when it’s time to toss. There are the 3 categories of “Light Wear,” Moderate Wear“ & “Heavy Wear.” You’ll see the written description next to each. This I found very helpful, therefore I wanted to include it in my review, in hope of helping you. By the looks of my current bone it’s in between moderate & heavy wear. The large is costly, I feel, but it 100% occupies my puppy. It’s his favorite “toy.” I’ve only had small shavings come off since he’s chewed it. Nothing major to clean off the couch where he lays. Stuffed toys are a thing of the past now. I’ll continue to buy once it’s time to toss this bone because he loves it so much. I also love that Benebone is Made in the U.S.A.! I definitely recommend! A heads up! If you click on their store on the main page of this bone you’ll find other shapes of the nylon bone as this one. This Benebone won’t disappoint. Take the time to read the packaging.
