De naam Bai Hao, witte toppen, duidt op de kleine witte bladknoppen dat samen geplukt worden met de bovenste twee bladeren. De geografische, natuurlijke omstandigheden zijn vochtig en mistig. Dit is bepalend voor de eigenschappen van de Bai Hao. Wanneer de theeplant wordt blootgesteld aan stressvolle omstandigheden, (weinig licht, kou, zeewind,etc) heeft de plant de neiging om

De naam Bai Hao, witte toppen, duidt op de kleine witte bladknoppen dat samen geplukt worden met de bovenste twee bladeren. De geografische,  natuurlijke omstandigheden zijn vochtig en mistig. Dit is bepalend  voor de eigenschappen van de Bai Hao.

Wanneer de theeplant wordt blootgesteld aan stressvolle omstandigheden, (weinig licht, kou, zeewind,etc)  heeft de plant de neiging om complexere aroma's te ontwikkelen. Een toename van chlorofylzorgt voor een dieper groen blad.

Weetje : Deze thee wordt erg geliefd  door kleine sprinkhanen, Jacobiasca formosana, daardoor gaan de blaadjes sneller oxideren .

Na de oogst worden de bladeren van de Bai Hao, zijnde sterk geoxideerd,  verwerkt. Smaken van perzik en hout zijn eigen aan deze theesoort.

Deze oolong kan meerdere malen opnieuw opgeschonken worden.
