Het voelt zoooo bijzonder om deze boekenbaby van Janis (SMOOJ) en mezelf aan jullie voor te stellen. 🥲 Ik heb sinds lange tijd nog eens 'JA' gezegd tegen een illustratie opdracht voor een boek en het resultaat is deze klepper.Het is begonnen met een 'geheel vrijblijvend gesprekje' bij Uitgeverij Pelckmans. In mijn tas zat maar 1 ding. Een checklist met 3 dingen op.

1. Ik ging alleen maar 'ja' zeggen als het een verhalenbundel was met meerdere, korte verhaaltjes/gedichtjes in (want ik mis dat echt in de boekenwereld tegenwoordig!)

2. Ik ging alleen maar 'ja' zeggen als de hoofdpersonages kindjes waren, geen diertjes. (want JA, ik mis dat OOK in de boekenwereld tegenwoordig!)

3. Ik ging alleen maar 'ja' zeggen als er in de tekst en in de prenten véél diversiteit voorkwam. Qua kleur, maar ook qua gezinssamenstellingen etc.

JAH... 😄 ✅ ✅ ✅ Driedubbele check en nog veeeeel meer. Dat 'vrijblijvende gesprek' werd eigenlijk meteen getransformeerd tot een concreet plan.
En ik had nog geen moment spijt.
Want bij iedere prent die ik tekende, dacht ik 'VERDORIE HOE GOED HEEFT DIE JANIS DAT HIER WEER GESCHREVEN.'

Als je denkt: "hooo, ik vind haar gedichtjes voor volwassenen eigenlijk al zo leuk!" WACHT DAN MAAR 😍❤️ Ook in dit boek is alles super leuk op rijm geschreven.

Het is een stevige klepper van 200 bladzijden, gevuld met 80 mini-verhaaltjes en met op iedere pagina wel een tekening. Perfect om ook de jongste kindjes mee te boeien dus. Maar even goed kunnen lezertjes er vanaf 7 jaar zelf mee aan de slag.

Fun, engaging dog toy that keeps pets entertained, but battery life could be better

I’ve been using the ITEHZTO Interactive Dog Ball Automatic Dog Toy for my dog, and overall it’s been a great way to keep him active and engaged, especially when I’m busy or not able to play fetch. The different play modes are a nice feature, and the unpredictable movement really grabs his attention. It does a good job of encouraging exercise and mental stimulation. The USB-C charging is convenient, and I appreciate not having to mess with batteries. The size is also good for small to medium dogs, and it feels durable enough to handle regular play. The reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that the battery life doesn’t last as long as I expected, especially when using the more active modes. Also, on harder flooring it can be a bit noisy as it bounces around. Overall, it’s a fun and useful interactive toy that my dog genuinely enjoys. With slightly longer battery life and quieter operation, it would easily be a 5-star product.

Great stimulation for a 'busy' pup

I’ll admit I was a little skeptical since my German Shepherd is well over the recommended weight limit for this ball, but it’s been a huge hit. Even though it’s technically for smaller breeds, it has held up remarkably well so far. I’ve mostly kept it on the gentle mode, and that’s more than enough to grab her attention and keep her occupied for quite a while. The design is actually much tougher than the warnings suggest; the two halves screw together so securely that she hasn't been able to pry it open, which is impressive for a tough chewer. It’s been a great way to keep her mentally engaged indoors without worrying about the toy falling apart immediately.

Recommended for Small, Mellower Dogs, not the destructive, chewy kind

My dog loved this ball, maybe a little too much. He attacked it like it was a wild animal and left teeth marks and tears in the outer plastic. I decided to give it to my cats instead, who initially were very intrigued by it. The buff kitty even chirped to see it. He would roll around with it as it vibrated and hopped, but after a while he wasn’t that interested. I think I can get them to play with it if I don’t use it with them every day, maybe wait a few weeks between playtimes. Perhaps it is a little too large for cats. My dog, who is less than 30 lbs., might be too big for it, or maybe just his mouth is, or maybe because he’s a Boston Terrier and he always feels like it’s his duty to destroy all toys (all my Bostons were like that). But I don’t think I will let him have it again. Maybe a toy breed or puppy might be more of the appropriate size for this ball. Or someone who isn’t as destructive. The instructions are almost unreadable because the text is so small. I couldn’t understand what I was supposed to do with the “installation process.” I did figure out how to turn it on and off by myself, however. There are four modes when it is on: gentle, normal, active, and lighting only (no vibration). As a human, it is a fun thing to watch, even if it is just for the light show.
