As the "Ace Drummer" with the Benny Goodman Orchestra he set the stage for modern drums, he was the first real drum super star. His name and reputation became bigger than life. His boyish charm and good looks made him a real hit with Big Band audiences, but when he would break into a solo like on the Louie Prima's classic "Sing, Sing, Sing" all eyes were on Gene Krupa and he never disappointed his fans and fellow musicians. As Benny Goodman put it, "Gene was my man!"
