In Ex Libris, you are a collector of rare and valuable books in a bustling fantasy town. The Mayor has just announced a new position on the Village Council: Grand Librarian. This prestigious and sought-after role will be awarded to the citizen who assembles the most extraordinary library. However, you're not the only one vying for this honor—several of your fellow book collectors (more like rivals, really) are also in the running.

To outshine your competition, you'll need to expand your personal library by sending your trusty assistants out into the village to acquire the most impressive tomes. With sources for the finest books in short supply, you'll need to be quick and strategic to grab the best volumes—especially those that align with your library's secret focus.

Time is of the essence, as you only have a few days before the Mayor’s Official Inspector arrives to judge your library. This no-nonsense inspector will use her Official Inspection Form to evaluate your collection based on criteria such as alphabetical order, shelf stability, prominent works, and variety. She won’t overlook any banned books either, so you’ll need to be careful! To succeed, you’ll need shrewd planning, clever tactics, and maybe even a little magic to surpass your rivals and claim the title of Grand Librarian!

Gorgeous book
Format: Board book
This is one of our favorite books. The illustrations are stunning. It's a total work of art! And the story about changing seasons is lovely. I like that it's a quick read but that there's more than a word or two per page. My 13-month old really loves this book, and because I love it so much too, I always encourage her to bring it over for a read!

beautiful illustrations
Format: Board book
The story is nice, but the real magic is in the illustrations. As a parent, I adore reading this book just for the illustrations; each page is a work of art. Most of the story is about winter, so we are reading it a great deal now (December) to discuss wildlife and how they prepare for winter.

Another classic by Il Sung Na
Format: Board book
Il Sung Na is one of my favorite children's book authors/illustrators. The illustrations are whimsical and fun, the text is simple and colorful. This book is very similar in concept to his Book of Sleep as it chronicles a rabbit looking on as various animals respond to the changing seasons. My daughter loves this book, as well as the Book of Sleep and Opposite Zoo.
