Achieve Precise 7/16 Inch Grooves and Plunge Cuts with the Freud Pro Straight Router Bit

Execute specific joinery tasks and hardware installations with the Freud 12-113 7/16 Inch Double Flute Straight Router Bit. This specific diameter is a critical problem-solver for woodworkers who need a groove slightly narrower than 1/2 inch but wider than 3/8 inch—perfect for custom dados, cable channels, or specific mortise widths. Mounted on a heavy-duty 1/2-inch shank, this bit offers superior stability compared to smaller shanks, virtually eliminating vibration and chatter to ensure perfectly straight, clean walls in hardwood, softwood, plywood, and abrasive composites.

Engineered for durability and finish quality, the 12-113 features Freud's exclusive TiCo Hi-Density Carbide. This proprietary micro-grain formula withstands high heat and abrasion, keeping the cutting edges sharp up to four times longer than standard carbide bits. The bit utilizes a computer-balanced double flute geometry with precision-ground shear angles that slice cleanly through wood fibers for a smooth surface. Additionally, the specialized "Eclipse Grind" tip geometry provides center relief, allowing for smooth, efficient plunge cutting when starting blind grooves or pockets in the middle of a workpiece.

Key Features

  • Specific 7/16 Inch Diameter: Ideal for custom joinery, dados, and mortises requiring precise intermediate sizing.
  • TiCo Hi-Density Carbide: Proprietary blend resists heat and wear for maximum edge retention.
  • Heavy-Duty Shank: 1/2-inch shank ensures exceptional rigidity and reduces vibration for cleaner cuts.
  • Eclipse Grind (Plunge Ready): Relieved tip geometry allows for efficient vertical drilling and pocketing.
  • Clean Finishes: Shear angles are engineered to reduce tearing and produce smooth, burn-free edges.
  • Versatile Compatibility: Safe for use in CNC, table-mounted, and hand-held routers.
  • Extended Length: 3-1/4 inch overall length allows for deeper reach in jigs and fixtures.

What's Included:

  • (1) 7/16 In. Double Flute Straight Bit with 1/2 In. Shank (Model 12-113)

Pro-Tip: The 7/16" size is extremely useful when routing dados for "1/2 inch" plywood that has been heavily sanded or is undersized. Always test your fit on scrap material first. If the 7/16" groove is slightly too tight, you can make a second pass adjusting your fence by a fraction of an inch to dial in the perfect friction fit.

An excellent book...a must read!
Format: Paperback
Ruthie Gilmore's examination of California's prison-industrial complex paints a sobering portrait of the effects of the state's post-industrial decline in the past quarter century. Supplemented by numerous charts, maps, and statistics, Gilmore argues that the massive prison-building project that began in the early 1980s was rooted in earlier developments, namely the failure of the "welfare-warfare state" to absorb the numerous surpluses created by political and economic restructuring. Combining theory and historical-sociological analysis, this highly readable book is at once depressing and optimistic; it lays out the facts and guidelines for pursuing meaningful, antiracist struggles against the systemic dehumanization of immigrants, low-wage workers, and youths of color that continues to characterize U.S. political culture.
