Stop and knit the Rosie!

FIVE Sundays:

  • Feb 15th 4p-6p PLEASE NOTE THE DIFFERENT TIMING FOR THE FIRST CLASS!
  • Feb 22nd 10a-12p
  • March 8th 10a-12p (Daylight Savings Clock Change)
  • March 22nd 10a-12p
  • April 12th 10a-12p

The Rosie Sweater by LE KNIT is an excellent, stylish next step for someone who has already knitted up their first sweater (or first few) and is looking to expand their skills! What better way to tackle color work than with this gorgeous pattern‽

The Rosie is a clever hybrid construction blending a dropped shoulder and raglan, which gives your finished sweater a beautiful fit. The construction also means that despite the color work motif looking complex, it is all worked in the round from the right side of the garment, making it much more approachable!

Work this sweater in the suggested two strands held together for a squishy, soft garment with delicate color work, or use a single strand of DK for crisp detail and a statement piece that you won’t want to take off!

What you need to know and be comfortable completing without help from the instructor (or you're willing to learn before this class): How to knit, purl, knit in the round and in small circumferences, how to work magic loop (if you are going to be using that instead of small circumference needles), knit decreases and increases. We would NOT suggest this class as your first sweater – some familiarity with garment construction is highly recommended!

What you'll learn in this class: How to work stranded color work and read color work charts, drop shoulder/raglan hybrid construction

Required Materials:

We hope you'll consider supporting us by purchasing your materials at Knit 1!

Yarn: This sweater calls for a DK weight gauge (21 stitches in 4 inches) and can be made with one of two options:

  • OPTION 1: One strand of fingering and one strand of mohair held together for both the base color of the sweater and the color work
    • BASE: 1,120 - 1,568 yards of fingering weight yarn held with 1,155 - 1,617 yards of mohair
    • COLOR WORK: 224 - 448 yards of fingering weight yarn held with 231 - 462 yards of mohair
  • OPTION 2: DK weight yarn that meets gauge in two colors
    • BASE: 1,150 - 1,600 yards
    • COLOR WORK: 230 - 460 yards

Recommended yarns from the shop:

  • DK weight options - Sandnes Garn Double Sunday, Kathmandu DK, Cascade Merino DK and Eco Merino DK, West Yorkshire Spinners BFL, The Fibre Co Acadia, Muse & Method The Go-To, Malabrigo Rios
  • Fingering weight options - Manos Del Uruguay Alegria, BC Garn Bio Balance GOTS, Malabrigo Ultimate Sock, Lamana Como and Como Tweed
  • Mohair options - Kelbourne Woolens Harmony, Lamana Premia

Needles: This pattern lists requirements for many different needle sizes for the color work portions as well as sleeves, cuffs, and the neckline. If you would like to use less needles to complete your project, we suggest purchasing each needle size in a 32” length and using magic loop method OR purchasing a set of interchangeable needles

  • US 2.5 circular needles in a 16” and 32” length
  • US 4 circular needles in a 16” and 32” length
  • US 6 circular needles in a 16” and 32” length
  • US 7 circular needles in a 16” and 32” length (for the color work)
  • US 4 Double pointed needles

Notions: Stitch markers, waste yarn or stitch holder cord, tapestry needle, scissors

Best chew toy we have ever purchased.
Flavor Name: Classic, Size: Large
My moderately active 80lb Lab - Pit mix has been steadily working on this bone for over a year. He doesnt chew it every day but he does regularly chew it for 30 or more minutes at a time. He has only been chewing on the smooth end, and the only wear it shows is a slight thinning and some grooved tooth marks. It has not had any chunks come off, and has never developed any sharp edges that make it hard to play with. It has never smelled or gotten slimy. It has never triggered resource guarding with him, but he likes it enough that presenting it to him will often get him to settle down and chew when he is in a rambunctious mood. Its size and shape allows him to hold the textured Y end with his paws while chewing on the smooth end. All in all a fantastic toy!

Happy Doggo
Flavor Name: Beef, Size: Small
He immediately loved it. He doesn't take to bones quickly, but this one caught his eye. He's a 35 lb shepherd mix, and loves antlers, and chews pretty hard. I love that it doesn't smell, and havne't seen or noticed flakes. Overall would recommend.

Excellent product, highly recommend
Flavor Name: Classic, Size: Large, Flavor Name: Classic, Size: Large
So glad I came across this brand that uses actual edible material instead of the plastic nylon! All of our dogs love the nylon chew toys, but it's so bad for them to eat the little plastic bits! I got the large one & it is VERY large! I actually wish they had a medium one, one in-between the large & small ones as an option. But our dogs still love the large one, just harder for them to carry around & boy is it loud each time it gets dropped on the hardwood floor. It's big enough both the pups can chew on it together at the same time & do just that. We've had it for a couple months now & they don't chew on it everyday, but a few times a week I'd say & it's a tad bit softer than the nylon chews, but I'd say it's held up very well!
