When to book a wash instead of a groom

The simplest rule: if you want length taken off, book a long coat groom. If your dog just smells, looks dull or has been at the beach, a wash is enough.

Long-coated dogs in our climate usually do best with a full groom every 4 to 6 weeks and a wash in between if they get muddy, sandy or salty. Heavy shedders should book a long coat deshed instead, since deshedding work is the bit that actually gets the loose undercoat out.

A note on matting. Tell us at booking if you've noticed any matting. Bathing a matted dog tightens the mats and makes them painful to remove later. We'll always assess at check-in. If matting is too tight to brush out kindly, we'll discuss a clip-down or a shift to a full groom appointment with extra time built in.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from a full groom?

A wash is bath, dry, brush, nails and ears. A groom adds clipping or scissor work to take length off and shape the coat. Pick a wash if your dog is on a regular grooming cycle and just needs a refresh.

How often should I book a wash?

Every 2 to 4 weeks works for most long-coated dogs, depending on lifestyle. Beach dogs, bushwalkers and muddy adventurers need them more often.

Will the brush out get rid of all the tangles?

We work them out where we can. Severe matting won't brush out and will need a clip-down (a different appointment). Tell us at booking if your dog's coat is heavily matted.

What products do you use?

Melanie Newman, an Australian salon range. Plant-based, biodegradable. We have sensitive-skin and conditioning options.

Can my dog have a wash and a daycare day together?

Yes. Book daycare and add the wash on at booking, or message us to coordinate. Pickup is one happy, clean, knackered dog.

Do you do flea and tick baths?

Yes, as an add-on. Tell us at booking if you've spotted any.

Can I use Afterpay?

Yes. Available at checkout for any eligible service.

Durable, Engaging, and Perfect for Small Dogs
Size: Small
The Starmark Everlasting Treat Bento Ball is fantastic! My small dog loves it, and it keeps them entertained for a long time. The toy is tough and durable, perfect for chewing, and the treat-dispensing feature makes playtime even more engaging. A great way to keep dogs mentally and physically stimulated.

Great toy, just no match for my dog
Size: Large
I love this toy but it was unfortunately no match for my 75lb catahoula leopard dog, it took her about an hour tops to rip the treat out of the ball entirely and walk off with it to eat it 🤣 the side I put a bunch of her smaller treats into kept her busy longer. I'll definitely keep using it, she absolutely loves it, but shes just too good at tearing things up 😅 To be fair, shes a really heavy chewer, and usually gets frozen marrow bones as treats. This is a great alternative, especially for the price, its nice and heavy, she hasnt chewed through the rubber yet, but it probably wont be long. She doesn't throw it around like she does her other balls, but when I toss it to her its got a good bounce.

KEEPS MY ENERGETIC 1 YR OLD LAB BUSY
Size: Large
Anyone that has a field Lab knows you have to keep them busy which is difficult with the snow that won’t melt and the unusual -15 degree windchills we are having in NYC. Like others I’ve wasted so much money on various toys and puzzles trying to keep her busy and mentally stimulated. She either destroys them in minutes or won’t touch them. However, these with treats inside are fantastic. She loves the chicken flavor treats that go inside the ball. The treats for the holder are pricey but worth it so it keeps her busy for a while and she doesn’t get super hyper with cabin fever. Once I can get her back outside for longer periods to play and run off her excess energy I probably won’t be buying them on a regular basis given the price and that they only last a couple of hours given her strong jaws….Probably only for a special treat. However, for now they are worth every penny. The only con is they are difficult to get into the holder which is good so she can’t remove it.

We love em!
Size: Medium, Size: Medium
My dog loves these! I get a size smaller so it’s harder for him to eat. He’s 70lbs I get him the medium and it will last him 4 ish days. I also fuill the back with dog safe peanut butter, broken treats, and his food. This keeps him happy while I’m at work :) for reference he’s a gsd, and Australian shepherd mix. He never lets it get too far away, and proudly carries it along even when empty. He had one for over a year that just now started to break. They are very strong, great for chewers, and worth their weight in gold! When empty they also make them have the funniest faces🤣 again my dog had the first one for over a year before it started to rip. They are hardy.

Wrong item sent
Size: Small, Size: Small
The bento ball itself is great but the extra 16 treats that were sent as part of the purchase were the wrong kind. The picture used in the Amazon ad is the one shown in the left part of the picture I posted (dome shaped treats with a dog named Lacey in the picture), and what I received is shown in the right part of the picture (ridged treats with a dog named Bella in the picture). The problem with the Bella treats is that they are a bit smaller than the Lacey treats which means that they dont fit sugly into the bento ball. This in turn means that my little maltipoo gets them out of the bento ball in a few minutes. This defeats the whol purpose of the treat, and even worse this is a choking hazard for small dogs which makes the product unusable for me. FYI - I have never had this problem with the Lacey treats - they work great which is why I bought this product since this is what was shown in the picture. I sent a message to the vendor about this but have not heard anything back. Amazon offered to refund me half of the total purchase price if I sent back both the ball and the 7 of the 8 treat packages (I opened one only to discover this problem), which is also not great.
