Schaefer would record his first NHL Goal on October 11th, becoming the second youngest defenseman in NHL history to score his first NHL Goal (18 years, 36 days). Schaefer would score a point in his first 6 career NHL games, making him the second rookie defenseman ever to do that. Schaefer was named NHL Rookie of the Month for October 2025 and has become the favorite candidate for the Calder Memorial Trophy.
