The Unexpected Jesus, The Truth Behind His Biblical NamesJesus divides history, your birthday is determined by his! But why should that be? This is a man who evokes the widest polarisation of opinion of any historical figure: devotion from some, vitriolic abuse by others and astonishing indifference from many. Today most people just don't know who he really was, or is, or don't care. People still put forward all kinds of ideas about who he was. Books like 'The Da Vinci Code' propose that he was only a man

Jesus divides history, your birthday is determined by his! But why should that be? This is a man who evokes the widest polarisation of opinion of any historical figure: devotion from some, vitriolic abuse by others and astonishing indifference from many. Today most people just don't know who he really was, or is, or don't care. People still put forward all kinds of ideas about who he was. Books like 'The Da Vinci Code' propose that he was only a man (in which case why are his descendants so important?). Many religions have other ideas - everyone has an opinion whether based on fact or fiction. Those for and against have often resorted to name- calling, but in the Bible Jesus was both called by, and gave himself, unusual names. Noted theologian, R. C. Sproul, seeks to enlighten us by investigating what those names actually mean. From there he determines what Jesus set out to do. Jesus is no mere historical figure, he is as important in the 21st century as he was when he walked the earth.

______________

'The Unexpected Jesus is a book about Jesus, about how the names and titles closely connected to Him reveal who he is and what he came to do. If you're looking for one book that tells you both about the person and the works of Jesus Christ, this would be a good fit. Especially for new believers. It's not too short, not too long. Twelve just-right chapters: six focusing on WHO Jesus is and six focusing on WHAT he did. Sproul addresses the basics. If you've read the gospels, you've come across these phrases, these titles, these names. Maybe you understood what you read. Maybe you didn't. But Sproul carefully examines them all and presents them clearly. (Son of Man, Son of God, Lamb of God;Messiah or Christ, Lord, Lion, Prophet, Priest, King, etc. The presentation isn't examining these titles or names in isolation or out of context.)

As much as I liked the first half, I think I loved the second half a little bit more. It is a very clear presentation of the gospel.

- The Need for Atonement

- Sin and Redemption

- Christ Our Ransom

- Blessing or Curse?

- Securing Our Faith

- Justification by Faith

It is easy to recommend this one. It does keep it simple--relatively speaking at least. It isn't comprehensive or exhaustive. This isn't the most in-depth treatment of the subject. But it does have a clear focus and it is accessible. It works for me.

Quality product for fair price
Color: Leather - Brown
Good quality, light, material felt good. Quite a few card slots. The magnet is not super strong so you can’t carry a lot of cash, but it is good enough to make it feel secure.

Lightweight and durable
Color: Grey
My husband loves this wallet because it's super lightweight but durable. He doesn't like the bulkiness of most leather wallets so this was the perfect fit. The topographical pattern is unique

Super cute!
Color: Multi
This is advertised for men, but I bought it for myself and absolutely love it! It’s very cute, lightweight and slim to just slip in your pocket for a quick run in instead of bringing your whole billfold. Good quality and cute design! Fits 2 cards on each side and has pocket in the middle for cash.

Card holder yes, 'wallet' not so much, and it has a 'weathered' look as shown in their pictures.
Color: Multi
This little card holder feels pretty tough, and the card slots are tight. I could fit 5 cards into it--4 in the outside slots and 1 in the pocket in the middle. I was hoping that I could use it as a wallet and not just a card holder, but the pocket in the middle is very tight just like the other 4 slots on the outside, and you CAN stuff money in there but it's not very convenient to get it out. Thier claim of "...providing efficient organization and easy access to all your essential cards and cash" is a bit of a stretch, because if you have cards in the 4 outer slots the middle pocket becomes very tight, and not convenient or enjoyable to put cash in and harder to get it out. I got the striped multicolor version, and it looks really nice and cool, though they might have described it as 'vintage' or having a 'worn' look, as it sort of seems like it's been weathered or used. You can see this for yourself in the pictures they provide on the product page--there are those little white spots on it, as if it is old and worn. Still looks cool but I thought I would mention it, so you know what you are getting. I gave it only 4 Stars mainly because I was hoping it could be used better as a wallet and not just a card holder, and the middle pocket is a bit too tight for it to function that way in my opinion, but also because of its 'worn' look, as I was expecting it to look more 'brand new' and not so weathered.
