A deeply moving Victorian mourning ring, rich in symbolism and personal story. This beautiful piece is centred with a striking starburst motif, formed from a cluster of old cut diamonds that catch the light with wonderful sparkle and depth. The star design, often associated with guidance was a popular symbol in 19th century memorial jewellery.

The band gently graduates in width and is engraved with the motto “In Memory Of”, a traditional phrase used in Victorian mourning jewellery to commemorate a loved one. Though much of the original black enamel to the reverse has softened or been lost with time the ring has lost none of its emotional resonance or beauty.

Inside the band, a beautifully preserved inscription reads: “Alfred Blackburn died 13th May 1867.”

Research has revealed the history behind this individual. Alfred Blackburn lived in Warwickshire, England, and worked as a bank sub-manager. He died young at the age of 32 unmarried, leaving his estate to his father, James Blackburn, who was the manager at the same bank. His mother Eliza most likely worn this ring to remember her son.

Records show Alfred was born on 25th June 1835, baptised at Cannon Street Meeting House, Birmingham, a notable Baptist chapel of the period (a historic image of which will be included for context).

This ring is not only a fine example of Victorian craftsmanship, but also a deeply personal artefact. A tangible connection to a real individual and the people who mourned him. Pieces such as this were worn everyday as symbols of remembrance, love, and respect, often cherished for generations.

A truly special mourning ring, rich in sentiment, history, and Victorian symbolism. A rare opportunity to own a piece of documented personal history.

Good quality
Color: Chocolate, Size: 8 Panel
Very nice looking divider. We are using as a privacy divider around our hot tub. We have not left it out in the weather yet due to many storms coming through.

Great privacy option for townhome deck!
Color: White, Size: 6 Panel, Color: White, Size: 6 Panel
Deck privacy! I wanted a way to add some privacy to my second floor townhome deck. It’s been holding up well and doesn’t look junky! I used zip ties on one end so I can open and close it as I wish. Great solution to living in close quarters to your neighbors! I purchased the six panel and it’s a perfect size

Easy assemble and not to big!
Color: Black, Size: 132in-Large Metal Base
I bought this because I fo a lot of zoom/teams meetings and work just mandated no false backgrounds (don’t ask) soooo to hide my real home and allow others to roam free while I work I got this. Easy to assemble although you will need some space. I thought I might be to big at 11’ wide as I have a small desk area but actually it’s perfect and could use a couple more panels. Leaves just enough room so I’m not completely cocooned - I can move my chair and get up walk behind chair and exit space. Great deal and tax deductible!

Fair Quality, Hour and a half build
Color: Black, Size: 132in-Large Metal Base
Key things: It does (more or less, not completely) fold in on itself, it does block nearly all visibility (especially from an angle), it was only about an hour and thirty minutes to put together, and it is light weight. Do I recommend? Yeah.
